While an exact total and placement on the charts will not be released until Wednesday (May 6), the rapper will fall to at least No. 2.

Certified rock and roll legend and ’60s icon Bob Dylan’s 33rd studio album, Together Through Life, will mark his second straight album to debut at #1, with a total between 125-140k for the critically acclaimed Columbia Records disc. That’s based on one-day sales reports from record retailers around the country. Strange Music’s Kansas City, MO, rap veteran Tech N9ne and Asylum hip-hopper Mike Jones both debut with between 20-25k. Ross’ new project became the top album last week with 158,000 copies sold in its first seven days.

Rick Ross’ Deeper Than Rap led the way this week landing at No. 1 with 158,000 scanned discs followed by the Hannah Montana soundtrack which landed at No. 2 with 104,300 copies and Depeche Mode‘s Sounds of the Universe at No. 3 with 80,100 copies. Asher Roth‘s Asleep in the Bread Aisle debuted at No. 5 with 62,000 copies while Chester French‘s Love the Future opened at No. 77 with 6,300 copies. (Sales Wrap)

Slip-N-Slide CEO Ted Lucas previously spoke on Ross’ success with the new album.

“If he wants to get caught up in personal issues, that’s fine, but I never doubted him musically and lyrically,” Lucas explained. “He’s constantly in the booth making music. In fact, he’s already working on album number four. Ross is an incredible rapper and not too many people can out-rap him. I want him to be successful. I want his label, Maybach Music, to blow up. I want to see people I help get started doing things. I’m always going to be supportive of him.” (Billboard)

Ross associate DJ Khaled also stressed his success as a result of the rapper’s street presence.

I’d like to congratulate Rick Ross in advance for the number one album in the country,” Khaled said in an interview. “I don’t need to know what he sold, I don’t need to look at the charts, I know. It’s the number one album in the country and it’s a classic before even released. You told me, not me. The streets did. A&R’ed by myself, co-executive produced by myself. Def Jam Records, Maybach Music. Rick Ross, congratulations, you did it. Your album is a classic and by the way, we’re back in the studio already for his next album. Shhhhh. I shouldn’t have told ya.” (MTV)
