“Rick Ross Could Be One Of The Greatest Poets Of All Time”

[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name their Top 5 rappers of all-time. To make things tricky, we’ve created a “Hall of Fame” of emcees (see right) who are universally respected and therefore may not be mentioned. After 112’s Slim scooped out his top five, Houston’s DJ Michael “5000” Watts unveils his picks.]

  • p-ugk.jpgUGK. I put them in there because when you listened to what Pimp C and Bun B said, they had so much meaning. Pimp Chad this fly type of style that you couldn’t compare anything to. Bun B was one of the best lyrical emcees in this game. His wordplay is out of this world.

  • p-drake.jpgDrake. Really listen to Drake. He’s got a great delivery, a great punch and he’s one of those emcees that can take you anywhere. He’s got bars. Just listen to his songs. When it comes down to artists, I kind of compare him to being a great actor. You know how actors can pull emotions out of their music, Drake’s able to pull those emotions in his songs.

  • Busta RhymesBusta Rhymes. The way Busta does his flipping with his words, I’m just blown away by that. You have to look at how strong he comes with it. He’s one of my favorite East Coast rappers.

  • p-rick-ross.jpgRick Ross. Rick Ross talks a lot about gangster sh*t, but if you listen to a lot of his writings, he’s great. Rick Ross could be one of the greatest poets of all time. The way he writes his sh*t, it’s amazing when you sit down and listen to it.

  • p-z-ro.jpgZ-Ro. When you listen to what he’s saying, there’s something real about it. He has his own style. He’s a complete artist. I can’t really describe his style in regular words. You just have to listen to his sh*t.
