Maybach Music Group leader Rick Ross has offered a couple final thoughts on his recent headline-generating fallout with Reebok and how he hopes his protégés learn from his mistake.

In addition to calling the incident a learning lesson, Ross admitted his finances are deep enough where he does not have to worry about losing a reported $3.5 million deal with the shoe empire.

“It most definitely was a learning situation and just for the little homeys, just something for them to take away,” Ross said, referring to his Maybach Music Group artists. “That’s what’s important to me, what they take away from it. … “I’m in a position where if I never sold another shoe, Rozay good. So it’s really about what the little homeys who coming next gonna take away from it. … At the end of the day, once the dust settles we’ll just readdress the situation — once the time is right. As far as myself and Reebok, we got a healthy situation.” (MTV)

Recently, MMG’s Meek Mill said he could not co-sign the company’s decision to instantly part ways with his boss.

“F*ck Reebok, we wear Pumas,” Meek said in an interview. “That’s what we do. We wear Pumas. As far as Ross’ situation with Reebok, I just don’t approve of none of that. I don’t approve of no companies trying to dib and dab in our culture and then when you make a mistake they dip out on you. They’re still making money off our brand. I’m very against that. Ross is off Reebok and Reebok is still going to make money off of Ross. Before Rick Ross, Swizz [Beatz] and Tyga, it was no Reebok no more. These companies actually follow our culture and make money off of our culture and pay us like a pimp out. ‘This b*tch ain’t working today. Put her off the strip.’ If you fire me, we’re going to tear your sh*t back down. Nobody’s wearing Reebok no more. Reebok ain’t cool. Don’t wear that.” (Civil TV)

According to reports, the company’s CEO commented on the headline-generating break-up over the spring.

We’ve heard Rick Ross’ side of the story, but now Reebok CEO Uli Becker has shared his two cents on the rapper’s recent dismissal from the brand over his date rape lyrics on Rocko’s “U.O.E.N.O.” According to a tweet made by Footwear News, Becker called Rozay a “great guy,” but said he has “stupid” advisors around him. Given how the situation was dealt with, that sounds like a fair comment. “Footwear News: Reebok CEO Uli Becker on Rick Ross: ‘It’s unfortunate because he’s a great guy, he just has stupid advisors around him.’ #FNCEOSummit” (Miss Info TV)

After weeks of protests, Reebok finally buckled under the pressure and parted ways with Rozay in early April.

Athletic goods retailer Reebok on Thursday terminated its relationship with rapper Rick Ross, whose song featuring lyrics that seem to boast about drugging and raping a woman has caused an uproar. “While we do not believe that Rick Ross condones sexual assault, we are very disappointed he has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue or an appropriate level of remorse,” Reebok, a subsidiary of Germany company Adidas, said in a statement. “At this time, it is in everyone’s best interest for Reebok to end its partnership with Mr. Ross,” it said. Ross had an endorsement deal with the company and promoted its shoes in print and TV commercials. (Reuters)
