Maybach Music Group leader Rick Ross may be the biggest "boss" in rap and appears to also be one of the largest fans of wrestling, after being spotted at a pay-per-view TNA event this week.
Enjoying some front row action, footage of Ricky Rozay punking one of the show’s wrestlers has begun circulating online.
You might disagree, but to me, Rick Ross belongs to the upper class of celebrity that I can’t imagine doing normal people things. Like, I can’t imagine Prince running to the convenience store to buy a half gallon of milk. I can’t imagine Jay-Z going to Target to buy a heated blanket and a candle. It’s impossible to imagine those people interacting with normal folks. So, the fact that Rick Ross was just chilling with some of his people at the most recent pay-per-view for second-tier wrestling promotion TNA (TNA: Genesis), rubbing his hands and high-fiving wrestlers is about the funniest thing I’ve seen all day. Like, shouldn’t he be running his Wing Stop franchise, or “dealing cocaine,” or being a boss in some capacity that doesn’t involve high fiving dudes in sweater vest coats or wearing cargo pants? This is not the first time wrestling has met hip-hop as WWE fighter Shawn Michaels recently reacted to rap star 50 Cent referencing him in the new “Up” remix.
“Thank you very much to @50cent for the shout out, if it is indeed for me…does that give this country boy official street cred?:-),” he tweeted January 4th. (Shawn Michaels’ Twitter)
On the rapper’s “Up” remix, 50 references Michaels by his “Heartbreak Kid” wrestler alias.
In 50 Cent’s latest track “Up” featuring Loverance, Young Jeezy and T.I., 50 gives mention to the HBK aka the ‘Heartbreak Kid.’ Well the man who made that name famous, Shawn Michaels has thanked 50 for the shoutout. In the track, 50 says: “I be on that elite s***, that HBK, Heartbreak Kid Freak s***….” (This Is 50)
Three years ago, WWE announcer Jim Ross denied reports claiming the company offered rap star Kanye West $10 million to wrestle on television.
“I even saw on the ‘net that it was alleged that WWE had offered Kanye ‘$10M’ to step in the ring and wrestle,” he wrote, “which is so outlandish and ridiculous that it’s insane.” (Headline Planet)
