Southern rapper Maurice “Rich Boy” Richards is being forced to pay a $337,500 settlement over a July 2005 shooting.
The decision comes as a result of a near fatal gunfire shooting in Alabama.
The accountant, Chaz Mosley, successfully sued Rich Boy and his brother Irvin O. Richards for shooting at him with an assault rifle in 2005. The lawsuit alleges Irvin fired at least 10 bullets into Mosley’s vehicle. Despite the barrage, Mosley escaped unscathed. Irvin O. Richards plead guilty to assault, and is serving a 10 year prison sentence. Rich Boy received probation for his role in the crime. (Bossip)
A jury awarded Mosley with a large financial judgement.
Chaz won a $337,500 judgement against Rich Boy and his lawyers at Burr & Forman have come to Atlanta to collect. On Sept. 12, a Mobile jury found the rapper owed Mosley $312,500 in punitive damages, plus $25,000 in compensatory damages. Rich Boy’s publicist, Greg Miller, said he didn’t know if his client planned to pay up. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
Mosley has yet to receive full payment.
He has not received the full payment of $337,500 he was rewarded in the lawsuit, and is now seeking several liens – forms of security interest – on homes the rapper owns in Atlanta, Georgia to pay off the debt. Mosley filed his request at Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia on Monday, January 12. (Press Release)
