The incident allegedly took place around Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

Jojo Simmons, 19, got caught buying marijuana from a street pusher on Wadsworth Ave. in Washington Heights and made things worse by getting rough with the officers, police said. They said Jojo was behind the wheel of his BMW, which has “JoJo” embroidered on the head rests, rolling a joint when the narcs came up and knocked on his window. (New York Daily News)

Upon being discovered, Simmons made an attempt to escape the scene.

We’re told he tried to get away by throwing his car into reverse, and nearly backed into the officer’s car. Simmons Jr, known as JoJo on the MTV reality show “Run’s House”, was booked for resisting arrest, attempted reckless endangerment, marijuana possession and criminal use of drug paraphernalia. (TMZ)

Simmons has begun making a name for himself within the hip-hop world in the past few years.

As one of the stars of “Run’s House,” Simmons uses the show as a way to market his group Team Blackout. Simmon’s hunger and ambition comes alive when asked when we can expect to hear something from Team Blackout. “Hopefully, soon,” he says excitedly. “Whatever label wants to come holla at me and my team, we’re ready, we’re ready to be heard in the game. I talked to my uncle [Russell Simmons] about opening my own production company, getting my own label up (Logik), and getting all my artists and my team out there.” (JoJo’s MySpace Page)

His father is known for being a pioneer in hip-hop along with spreading words of wisdom via interviews, websites and his own reality show.

Rev Run also shows his deep spiritual side by posting “Rev Run’s Words of Wisdom” daily on his website. In late 2005, Run signed a deal with MTV for the reality show “Run’s House,” a look into the daily life of Rev Run’s family. (All Music)
