While rapper Remy Ma continues to serve out her eight year prison sentence behind bars, the former Terror Squad member has provided fans a daily account of how she lives her life.
After getting up at 5:30 AM on a daily basis for a prison-wide body count followed by showering and breakfast, Remy said regular duties include going to programs and even doing lawn work.
“At 8-o’clock you have to go to whatever your program is. Like, before I was working at inmate grieving. It’s where everybody goes with whatever their problems in the jail is. But now, from 8am to 11:00am I’m suppose to be mowing lawns and weed whacking and sh*t like that. Between 12:00pm and 12:30pm, they’ll probably call the Mess Hall. If it’s grilled cheese or pizza I’ll have to go to the Mess Hall; other wise, I just sit in my cell and just read or paint my nails or write or do my hair. From 1:00pm to 4:00pm you have a program again. Then after 4:00pm I’m back. Probably make something to eat or whatever. I try to eat before 5:00pm. I have [a] girl [and] we play Scrabble, Monopoly, Backgammon– every game out. Like, I’m a game master. Like any type of board game–I’m a champion, like I’m trying to get to 700 points. The most I ever had was like 680 something.” (XXL Mag)
As far as the evenings, Remy clocks in time for school work, television and nightly calls to her husband/rapper Papoose.
“At 6:30pm I’ll probably just–if I don’t go to the yard–sometimes I go to the yard and chill with my friends or whatever. If not, I’ll sit up here and watch Family Guy, and then at 7:00pm I watchJeopardy. If like school is in session I’ll go down to the computer room and type out my report or whatever we’re doing. Do homework. Then every night I call home from 9:15pm to 10:15pm. I call Pap. Everybody know 9:15 pm I’m on the phone. Don’t even ask where I’m at.” (XXL Mag)
Former rap rival Lady Luck recently told SOHH she wished the best for Remy during her bid.
“As far as her legal woes are concerned, I don’t wish that on no one,” Lady told SOHH referring to Remy Ma’s eight-year jail sentence. “You know what I mean? It’s trying on people mentally, I know especially for her, because she had her career, her child and regardless of whatever happened between her and I, I never wish that on nobody. I don’t wish that on nobody because I did a punk a** 110 days [behind bars] and I know I was in there dying. So eight years, six years year, whatever. Regardless of what happened between us, I couldn’t wish that on her. My heart goes out to her in her situation.” (SOHH)
She made headlines after an appeal was rejected in a New York courtroom last February.
New York’s top court has upheld the conviction of rapper Remy Ma in the shooting of a friend in 2007. In a ruling Thursday, the Court of Appeals rejected arguments that a judge didn’t properly inform jurors before they rendered a guilty verdict. The rapper’s real name is Remy Smith. She’s serving eight years in prison for criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of assault stemming from the struggle in which a friend was shot. Smith had accused the friend of stealing $3,000 from her pocketbook. (My Fox News)
The rapper will reportedly not be eligible for an early release until January 2015.
