Days after Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade accepted responsiblity for having a child outside of his relationship with longtime girlfriend Gabrielle Union, new reports question if he cheated on the actress.
Despite claims of D-Wade and Union being on a break-up period during the love child’s conception, new reports suggest that might not be the case.
Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade made the shocking confirmation earlier this week that he’d conceived a love child with another woman earlier this year when he and now fiancee Gabrielle Union were “on a break.” The baby boy was born in November putting the conception in early-mid winter 2013. But as far as photos and social media go, the couple were apparently still together during that time. Back on Valentine’s day in February, the 41-year-old actress tweeted a picture of the couple with the caption, “Happy Valentine’s Day @dwyanewade! This day is cool but I’m grateful you #MakeEveryDayCount.” If the couple was on a break, they did a good job of hiding it! (RumorFix)
Reports this week revealed the one-month-old’s name is Xavier Zechariah Wade and his mother is 30-year-old Aja Metoyer.
11:30 AM PT — TMZ Sports has learned … Aja’s two other children were fathered by “Happy Endings” star Damon Wayans Jr. … the son of “In Living Color” legend Damon Wayans (obviously). Now, we know the kid was born in Los Angeles on Nov. 10, 2013 … just 6 weeks before Wade popped the question to Gabrielle, who he’s been dating since 2009. According to the birth certificate, Wade’s baby mama is 30-year-old Aja Metoyer. The details of their relationship are basically unknown, except the obvious fact they have a kid together. (TMZ)
After mounted pressure and speculation, D-Wade cleared the air on the baby gossip Monday (December 30).
“I’m in the public eye, so obviously that’s a part of it. It comes with the territory. But, it’s kind of … as I’ve always done my whole life … is always focus on what’s most important to me and my family, and that’s being a great father. I’ve always tried to show my importance in my kids’ lives and it doesn’t change now. So, me and my lady and my family have continued to move forward and I think that’s evident with the ring and the proposal that I gave her with our lives. But, yeah, I had a time a part in our break, in our pain and our hurt, a blessing came out of it in my life, having a son that was born healthy. So, I’m moving on.” (Miami Herald)
Despite being engaged to Union, Wade promised to be a good father to his son.
“Yeah, I’ve got a chance to see him. You know me. I’m involved in my kids’ lives. When my kids were living at home with me, or wasn’t living at home with me, I tried to do everything I could to see them. Obviously I got custody of them for different reasons, but nothing changes with my life. Like I’ve said, this is something that my family knows and my now fiancée worked through when we got back together, and understood that we wanted to continue our lives together and continue supporting our family and we’re going to do that.
