Rap pioneer Nathaniel “Kidd Creole” Glover is reportedly in police custody. The hip-hop veteran has reportedly been charged with murder for stabbing a homeless New York man.

According to reports, the attack went down a couple nights ago in Manhattan’s Midtown area.

The 57-year-old Bronxite, whose real name is Nathaniel Glover, was arrested at his home in Mt. Hope on Wednesday after allegedly killing the unidentified individual on Tuesday night, according to police sources. He had gotten into a shouting match with the 55-year-old man at the corner of E. 44th St. and Third Avenue before the stabbing occurred, the sources said. (Fox News)

Details have also surfaced on why the Furious Five co-founder possibly took the man’s life.

The one-time trailblazing emcee works near the scene of the killing as a handyman and security guard and was on his way to his job, authorities said. He had a run-in with Jolly, who was drunk, a police source said. “They had no prior relationship,” the source said. “They had words. Things got out of hand. It was some sort of diss.” Glover thought Jolly — a convicted rapist and sex offender — was hitting on him, another source said. (New York Daily News)

Prior to the arrest, there were plans for a Furious Five performance later this month.

The hip-hop artist is most known for his run with Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.

Glover was a founding member of the lauded hip-hop group Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five. Formed in 1976, the group’s 1985 hit “The Message” is among Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In 2007, the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They were the first hip-hop act to enter the ceremony. (Rolling Stone)
