G.O.O.D. Music's Pusha T recently vividly recalled his worst on-stage performance, as it took place during his up-and-coming rap days in New Jersey.
According to Pusha, select New Jersey fans were not initially feeling The Clipse and Pharrell during a Smif-N-Wessun show.
“I remember when I first started I was in Asbury Park, in New Jersey. Me, my brother and Pharrell had a record out called “I Got Caught Dealing”, the first record I ever done, and one of my favorite groups, Smiff-N-Wessun, was performing at the same show. And I got on stage, me, Pharrell and my brother, and they immediately started throwing everything they could. And we made it through it. I felt like I was with my brother and my best friend in the world. It could not have happened to a better bunch of people!” (Village Voice)
Pusha also reflected on the strangest place he has performed.
“Weirdest place I’ve performed is… I went and performed the whole Hell Hath No Fury album in Wyoming one time and I just didn’t understand it. People like flew us out to this place, it was really private, 50 people only, and they had an elaborate sound system in a log-cabin almost, no stage. It was like snow outside, like a ski-lodge, and everyone there wanted to hear the album. It was amazing, they were like totally into it, but it was just like some focus group!” (Village Voice)
Outside of his trip down memory lane, the Virignia-bred rapper recently talked about dropping his G.O.O.D. Music debut album a day after Thanksgiving.
“We’re gonna put out the album on Black Friday, you know what I’m saying,” Pusha said in an interview. “Still more music coming, man. You know what I’m saying? We’re out here [in Las Vegas] shooting the ‘Alone In Vegas’ [music] video right now. Long Live The Cane project coming soon as well. Big shout-out to Re-Up Gang, Malice, you know.” (DJ Franzen TV)
Earlier this year, Pusha talked to SOHH about how he envisions the concept of the LP.
“The way I want to put out my solo album, those ideas are definitely taking form right now,” Pusha told SOHH. “It’s just that I want the world to understand that in The Clipse, well, I look at it like this. A lot of people understand the dichotomy with Pusha being more brash, the more wordplay-type one. And then you have my brother, Malice, being the more introspective and more conscious-driven. And it’s not that I don’t think like that, it’s just the fact that we play roles in our group. And we’re d*mn good at that. And I’m d*mn good at this. And it’s not that I don’t have those views, I think I just want the world to get a full 360-degree perspective of myself, my opinions and my mind.” (SOHH)
