After XXL Magazine recently ranked Kanye West‘s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy as a hip-hop classic, SOHH hit up Yeezy’s G.O.O.D. Music artist Pusha T to get his reaction.
Co-signing the publication’s XXL rating, Pusha said no artist is up on Ye’s level yet.
“Kanye is well-deserving of an XXL rating, whether he got it or not,” Pusha told SOHH. “Rapping? People aren’t f*cking with him rapping. Musically? People aren’t f*cking with him. This is like he’s pushing the bar. He’s doing all of this awesome sh*t and at the same time he’s keeping [a straight] face about it. That within itself says ‘I win.’ He wins, with the XXL rating and all of that, he wins.” (SOHH)
XXL credited Yeezy’s ability to uplift and direct hip-hop as part of its reason behind the rating.
“The end result is a body of work that pushes hip-hop in a bold new direction and puts Mr. West back at the forefront of the culture once again, leaving nothing more to be said, other than G.O.O.D.-a** job, Kanye.” – XXL (XXL rating) (XXL Magazine)
Renowned music publication Rolling Stone also called Ye’s new solo album a classic.
“My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is his most maniacally inspired music yet…It’s his best album, but it’s more than that – it’s also a rock-star manifesto for a downsizing world.”-ROLLING STONE (5 Stars) (Hipster Wave)
As of today, Yeezy’s new LP is en route to sell over 500,000 copies in its first week on store shelves.
The Roc-A-Fella/IDJ renaissance hip-hop icon and awards show provocateur lives up to his own lofty ambitions with a chart-topping debut for his latest rap opus, on target for between 525-575k, surpassing all pre-release forecasts. (HITS Daily Double)
