Acknowledging his early August tweet, Pusha gave his take on why the 16 year-old is so special.

“Yeah, man. It’s always good and just inspirational to see kids from the area really doing their thing and winning and being champions. That’s something that, like … I’ll never be on a cereal box. She’s already been something that a lot of people who’ve achieved a lot in this world will never, ever, ever, ever be. They will never be a world champion. And that’s commendable. And at such a young age too.” (Sports Illustrated)

In early August, Pusha shouted out the Virginia-bred sports athlete.

“Salute a true 757 hero @gabrielledoug !,” he tweeted August 3rd. (Pusha T’s Twitter)

After Douglas won gold for her Olympics performances earlier this month, music stars like Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter applauded her.

“A huge congratulations to 16 year old Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas – wow – what a thrill to watch you take this gold! I can tell you’ve been working hard for so long – enjoy this moment, its yours. Thank you for inspiring all of us!” (Beyonce)

She recently discussed the immediate attention and spotlight since winning people over at the London Olympics.

Douglas was described by U.S. team coordinator Marta Karolyi as someone who rose from “an average good gymnast to a fantastic one” in just five months this year. “People keep saying I’m the first black American to win the gold medal and I’m so honored,” the teenager said after her spellbinding victory. Armed with a sassy nickname, a bubbly personality, a megawatt smile and two gold medals with maybe more to come in the apparatus finals, the ‘Flying Squirrel’ already seems to possess the cross-over appeal that has made Tiger Woods and Venus and Serena Williams sporting greats.
