Pusha T Downplays Kanye West’s Explosive NY Rant [Audio]

G.O.O.D Music’s Pusha T has come to Kanye West‘s defense in light of catching heat for lashing out during his My Name Is My Name album release party this week in New York City.

While brief with his comments on Ye’s rant, Pusha did point out the positive side of hip-hop artists like the G.O.O.D Music boss being arrogant.

“Right,” Pusha said when DJ Envy referenced Ye’s rant. “[He was probably a little intoxicated,] yeah. … We’re like rappers, man, I didn’t even know arrogant was bad being a rapper. That’s the era I’m from. It’s like, you know, someone is proving it’s himself, whether it’s on the production end, whether it’s on an artistic end, and his track record at putting out albums, I hope don’t none of that hurt me. I would hope that all of that means, ‘Yo, Pusha’s about to have that sh*t.'” (Hip Hop Nation)

According to reports, Ye’s rant-filled speech followed a surprise introduction from Pusha earlier this week.

Pusha-T was the guest of honor at his “My Name Is My Name” album listening party Wednesday night in Brooklyn, but all eyes were on the man standing next to him: Kanye West. After asking the DJ to wait before starting the next track, West got on the mic and delivered one of his fiercest rants to date, expressing his support for Pusha-T by ripping some of the usual suspects (“corporations”) and taking aim at some new supposed trend biters (people who wear camouflage prints, people who “put numbers on the back of their t-shirts”). In Ye’s rant, he fully showed support for Pusha T and took direct aim at the corporate side of the entertainment industry.

“Aye yo this Yeezy right now speaking to y’all. This the heart of the muthaf**king city, act y’all ain’t have that muthaf**king Clipse album and shit. Act like y’all ain’t base y’all whole shit, whole lifestyle off this ni**a Pusha T. Everything is Pusha T. Pyrex Vision, that’s Pusha T. Fear of God, that’s Pusha T. This ni**a the heart of the muthaf**king culture for you culture vultures. This the only ni**a spitting that wild muthaf**king hip-hop shit right now, that’s why I stand next to this ni**a. I don’t give a f**k about none of these corporations, none of these f**king sellouts, this muthaf**king Pusha T. This is the f**k we make. We make good music, we make good music. We don’t give a f**k about how much god damn money you make, we make good music.” (Miss Info TV)

Unlike past rants, Kanye admitted he may have been intoxicated.

“I’m a (_____ _____ _______ ?) off that Goose right now, I might get loose right now. We don’t give a f**k…..we don’t give a f**k. Ni**a this is that culture. This is that culture….for everybody stealing the culture, for all ni**as trying to do their camo prints at MAGIC this is for fu**king Pusha T. All these ni**as trying to extend their muthaf**king t-shirts, trying to throw numbers on the back of their shit….this muthaf**king Pusha T. “I have a t-shirt line, cause I got numbers at the back of my shit,” F**k you.” (Miss Info TV)

Heading into Labor Day weekend, Mr. West jumped onto his Twitter page to dish out Pusha’s upcoming new album’s cover art.

“PUSHA-T: MY NAME IS MY NAME. COVER 1. OCT 8TH. pic.twitter.com/8KTBqca2WI,” Kanye tweeted August 30.
