Music producer Hudson Mohawke has stepped forward to let the world know he is upset for not being compensated over work he clocked in for rap stars Kanye West and Drake.
According to reports, Mohawke referenced the hip-hop duo on Twitter last week and threatened to release their music virally.
“Literally about to release zip of kanye and drake songs I’ve done that I got [zero] for,” he wrote before later deleting. Mohawke worked with Kanye on Yeezus for “I Am a God” and “Blood on the Leaves” as well as Life of Pablo for “Famous,” “Freestyle 4″ and “FML” while he’s worked with Drake before on “Connect” from Nothing Was the Same. Hudson also stepped forward Monday (March 14) to explain his decision not to put out the unauthorized music.
Recently, OVO Sound producer Noah “40” Shebib dished on what fans can expect from Drizzy’s upcoming Views From The 6 studio album.
“It’s going to be what everybody expects and wants from Drake and from us,” Mr. Shebib said. “A lot of introspection, very vivid. He’s discovering new flows, new cadences, new patterns.” As for the music, “I’m trying to find ways to pull more untraditional sounds in, to push the boundaries a little further.” The overall approach may be the same as the one that the duo has finely honed, but still, Mr. Shebib said, “Something about it should be special.” (New York Times)
Last month, Drizzy posted up a picture of his new album’s promotional billboard on Instagram.
