Music producer Frank Dukes recently talked about co-producing rap star Drake's "0 to 100" anthem and revealed how Bad Boy Records CEO Diddy lost out on owning it.

According to Dukes, the infectious anthem originally fell into the hands of Puff Daddy.

“No it was called something really generic and stupid like, “Vibes” or something. Originally it was a three minute idea that had all these different parts and I didn’t really write it with any intent of it being used for Drake or for anyone in particular. I just kinda wrote it and gave it to Boi-1da, who was in session at the time in Miami, this was with Diddy. This was like the whole controversy of the incident. From what I understand he made the beat on the spot, played it for Diddy and Diddy passed on it, he said it wasn’t life changing enough and that was that. Then fast forward, “0 to 100″ becomes this huge hit and then there’s this weird… whatever happened there? I don’t know, but as far as I understand that’s how it went down.” (Noisey Vice)

Check out how nasty Diddy and Drake’s beef over “0 to 100” turned on the next page…

December reports claimed Diddy’s issues with Drake came from him using their alleged joint instrumental and creating “0 to 100” last summer.

The beat was produced by Boi-1da and was sent to both rappers earlier this year. While Diddy sat on the beat for months, Drake turned it into the “0 to 100” which later became a hit and even earned him two Grammy nominations, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. (Ace Showbiz)

Reports claimed a fight between the music stars took place December 7 in Miami.

Miami was filled with celebrities who were winding down Art Basel celebrations over the weekend, but it sounds like things turned sour at club LIV on Sunday night, when Diddy and Drake crossed paths, at a birthday party for DJ Khaled. Rumors have swirled that the dispute was over Puff’s longtime girlfriend Cassie, but we’re being told that is untrue. There are also reports that Drake was hospitalized after the scuffle, but MTV News wasn’t able to confirm. (MTV)

  1. Frank Dukes composed the music. The instrumentation of the track. Boi1da sampled a piece of it and put drums on top of it.

  2. So basically before Drake made it a hit Diddy didn’t think the beat was anything special. Childish.
