With the music industry continuing to evolve with younger generations and new trends, Mobb Deep's Prodigy recently spoke to SOHH about what he's been up to these days and why hip-hop enthusiasts need to just kick back and appreciate the rap game's growth.

Fully reunited with Mobb Deep sidekick Havoc, Capital P said his focus is on working toward dropping a new LP this upcoming summer.

“Right now I’m just focused on making albums. I’ve got an album getting ready to drop with Alchemist for this summer,” P told SOHH. “So we just wrapping that up right now, mixing everything, the album is crazy. I got Domo Genesis from Odd Future on there, I got Raekwon on the album, I got Roc Marciano on there. I got some joints on there, yo.” (SOHH)

He also spoke his collaboration process and the backlash hip-hop has received as of late from overly critical fans.

“I usually work with people who I listen to their music,” P added when asked how he goes about choosing his collaborations. “I ain’t just going to work with somebody for whatever-whatever. I’m going to work with an artist because I’m feeling their music, they got some nice beats or I like the way they rap. I might reach out to them or we’ll bump into each other like, ‘Yo, let’s collaborate.’ It’s definitely some artists out there that I want to work with. It’s too many to name, man. There’s so many great artists out there right now. There’s a lot of people hating on the music industry right now, especially hip-hop, they don’t like a lot of the new stuff but to me, it’s just art. It’s just different colors, different canvases, different textures. It’s artwork, man. Stop being such a stiff a** and f*cking just enjoy the music. [laughs] You know what I’m saying? Word.” (SOHH)

After a publicized hiatus, Hav and P linked back up last month for a Paid Dues concert.

With their troubles seemingly behind them, Mobb Deep made their reunion official during the opening day of Paid Dues 2013 in San Bernardino, California last night. Among their catalog of classics, Havoc and P performed their timeless Infamous cut, “Shook Ones Pt. II.” Forget chocolate eggs; this is the only gift we want this Easter. The rap duo recently talked about hooking back up and preparing for an upcoming tour.

“It’s definitely gonna be songs performed that we’ve never performed before,” Havoc promised when the group spoke to MTV News. Pee estimates that he and Hav get together about two weeks before a tour to choose which songs they’ll travel with. “We just recently we did a rehearsal together and as soon as I walked in the door, Pee was playing something that we never performed before and I was like ‘Yo, let’s do that!’ ” Hav said anecdotally, though he wouldn’t give up the goods.
