Details of the arrest bubbled online Tuesday (March 5) evening.

Police in Philadelphia have arrested a man in the homicide of a man who died when a gunman fired into a crowd surrounding the tour bus of rapper French Montana. A police spokeswoman said Tuesday that 20-year-old Frank Briggs faces charges of murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and firearms crimes in the shooting shortly before midnight Feb. 28 near Penn’s Landing. Earlier in the day, Montana came forward to speak on the shooting coverage.

“My bus don’t have no bullet holes on it. No nothing. You know how it be. If you’re with a friend that’s with a friend that’s with a friend that’s with his mother that’s with his cousin’s grandmother, if something happens, it’s French Montana. If they didn’t shoot at the bus, there was nothing to be worried about. I guess it wasn’t for me. … The media. They can’t wait to say something negative, man. They’re relating Ross and me and all this. It wasn’t nothing like that. It ain’t even that serious.” (“The Angie Martinez Show”)

Last Friday (March 1), French broke his silence on the headline-generating event via Twitter.

“My bus was located in the vicinity of the incident that took plac last night in Philadelphia. I had a peaceful concert and was not involved,” French tweeted March 1st.

“My deepest thoughts and sympathies go out to the familiesof the victims, as well as all of those who were affected” (French Montana’s Twitter)

The story turned into an online fiasco as reports flooded the Internet.

Shell casings lined the street in front of French Montana’s tour bus early this morning — and new photos of the crime scene obtained by TMZ show just how close the shootings took place to the rap star. As TMZ previously reported, Montana’s bus had pulled up outside a Holiday Inn Express in Philadelphia last night when shots were fired from a moving car at the crowd of fans that had gathered. One man was killed and another was hospitalized after being shot in the shoulder. Philly cops said they recovered seven shell casings … which are clearly marked by police in the photos. Police say they’ve determined Montana was not the target, but rather the shootings were the result of a disagreement between a bunch of fans. (TMZ)
