Pop singer P!nk has stepped up to speak out on buzz about rap star Kanye West ranting about her in a new leaked 2009 secret conversation following the MTV Video Music Awards.
Rather than fire back at the old comments, P!nk actually stood up in defense of Ye.
“Oh come on y’all… If people secretly recorded me and all the sh*t I talk…. It’s all good. All love. And we all still here. Peace please,” she tweeted July 19. (P!nk’s Twitter)
In the leaked rant, Ye goes off on how much attention P!nk received at the 2009 awards show.
“It ain’t no love. What the f*ck was Pink performing? Don’t nobody know that song. Pink performed twice! Two songs? How the f*ck Pink perform two songs and I didn’t even get asked to perform “Heartless.” “Heartless” is the biggest song of the year! It had the most spins of the first quarter! I don’t know that Pink song! But I noticed that she’s pink! They put me in a f*ckin’ room and [inaudible – maybe “projected it”].” (Gawker)
The unexpected audio clip surfaced online Thursday (July 18) evening.
Gawker has obtained audio of an alleged Kanye West erratically justifying his interruption of Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards (“Because I wrote my [‘Run This Town’] verse in two days, Taylor Swift cannot beat Beyoncé“), ranting about not being asked to perform at the ceremony over Pink, and claiming that his mother, Donda West, “died for this fame shit.” The audio supposedly was recorded secretly while West was at dinner with friends after leaving Radio City Music Hall on the night of the 2009 VMAs (September 13, 2009). Our tipster tells us that West shared a table with other musicians (none of whom are easily identifiable in the audio above) at the Corner Bistro in New York’s West Village.” (Gawker)
Recently, Mr. West said he did not regret the 2009 interruption during country singer Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech.
“It’s only led me to complete awesomeness at all times. It’s only led me to awesome truth and awesomeness. Beauty, truth, awesomeness. That’s all it is,” Kanye said in an interview. “I don’t have one regret.” (New York Times)
