Outside of dropping verses in music, Pill revealed his motivation to act and audition for the upcoming movie.

“I play a character by the name of Rodger.” Pill says. “I actually got a real role that I auditioned for. I’m always working. I make sure I’m always doing something to elevate myself or prepare myself for superstardom.” The Aimee Lagos directed film, which debuted at this years SXSW festival, follows the lives of four young people who crash into each other for one pivotal moment and is inspired by true events. ’96 Minutes’ stars Evan Ross as “Dre,” Brittany Snow as “Carley,” Christian Serratos as “Lena,” and J. Michael Trautmann as “Kevin.” There’s no set date yet for the film’s nationwide debut, but till then, check out the trailer. (The Juice)

Last week, G.O.O.D. Music rapper CyHi Da Prynce said he recruited Pill to act in an upcoming film called Allies.

“I’m secretly shooting a movie to [my mixtape] with a major production company so you will see it and it’s incredible,” CyHi revealed in an interview. “It’s going to be a short film directed and wrote by CyHi. The main guys in the film are me, Pill and Alley Boy. So they will be the three actors in the film, so look forward to it guys.” (VIBE)

Outside of acting, Pill announced his signing to Rick Ross‘ Maybach Music last winter.

“It’s an honor being part of MMG,” Pill said in a video. “Seeing what Ross did with his movement. I said, ‘It’s only right that I make that next step.’ … I remember listening to all of [Ross’] sh*t and being like, ‘Man how the f*ck does he pick those beats?’ I don’t got that formula and it’s only right that you put Pill with the formula and let my formula combine with it. Then we’ll go on and take it to the sky. There’s no time to waste.” (Dre Films)

Ross’ acquisition of Pill became public knowledge in mid-February.

It was announced via Twitter late last night (February 22) that Pill was the latest signee to the imprint. The 2010 XXL Freshman was already signed to Warner/Asylum, which acquired Maybach Music Group over the weekend, but is now a part of Rick Ross’s ever-expanding team that within the last few weeks also added former XXL Freshman alum Wale as well as Meek Mill, who graces the current Freshmen cover, set to drop next month. Maybach Music Group’s official Twitter account simply posted “@PILL4180 @MEEKMILL @RICKYROZAY @WALE @CAROLCITYCARTEL,” naming the new players on the roster. “[B]ig moves,” Ross then tweeted at Pill early this morning. Pill’s bio on his Twitter account now reads “Maybach Music/Warner Recording.” (XXL Mag)
