Grammy-winning singer Rihanna may have bigger fish to fry than G.O.O.D. Music's Teyana Taylor as PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has gone after one of her recent outfits.
According to reports, PETA is fuming over Rihanna donning a fur coat a few days ago.
PETA is slamming pop star Rihanna after she was spotted rocking a big fur coat while out in NYC on Thursday. The animal right’s group is calling out the Barbadian singer, saying they’re “disgusted” with her recent outfit choice. “Whenever someone with so much good fortune and wealth fails to show even the slightest bit of mercy for the animals who are beaten, electrocuted, and skinned alive for fur, it is cause for disgust. No fur coat can warm an ice-cold heart. We urge Rihanna to watch the video here and challenge her to remain unmoved.” (RumorFix)
A PETA spokesperson released a statement slamming RiRi last year over snake skin boots.
“Rihanna may not have a clue that snakes killed for boots are often nailed to a tree and skinned alive. Of course, they can’t go on Oprah to cry about it,” said a PETA spokesperson, referring to the singer’s recent appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show. “Wearing reptile skin is creepy and callous, and it makes her look even more out of touch. She and Lady Gaga seem so desperate to be freaks instead of recognized for their talents that you have to wonder if they realize that they are being laughed at.” (Huffington Post)
PETA previously went after rap star Kanye West‘s fiancée Kim Kardashian for rocking furs.
After seeing the images, a spokesmen for PETA released this statement to RumorFix exclusively: “Kim Kardashian doesn’t need 140 characters to show she is heartless. Her picture says it all.” And Kim isn’t the only one getting under PETA’s skin this month; the animal right’s group has also targeted Lady Gaga after she was spotted wearing a fur piece designed by Hermes. Back in 2010, PETA publicly went after Ye and ex-girlfriend Amber Rose for their dicey fashion statements.
West apparently lives by his lyrics. The ethical dropout–who horrified voters in PETA’s Worst-Dressed Celebrity competition last year–and his sleazy sidekick, Amber Rose, were snapped by paparazzi strutting around Paris in “the ugliest things,” indeed. Both were wearing head-to-toe fur, and Amber refused to remove her full-length lynx coat during a show at Paris Men’s Fashion Week. As PETA V.P. Dan Mathews so eloquently put it, “Kanye can’t help making himself look like an idiot, whether at an award’s show or a fashion show. He and his girlfriend look like pathetic creatures from a shabby roadside zoo.” (PETA)
