Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt is making headlines this weekend after reportedly punching a concertgoer last night (July 25) in Australia.
According to reports, Sweatshirt swung for the fences after a fan attacked him during his show.
The famed rapper was performing on his Ready to Love Now Tour in Sydney last night when a fan crashed the stage. He wrapped his arms around the rapper, seemingly in an attempt to grab the mic. Sweatshirt was then caught on a fan’s phone camera turning around and punching the stage-crasher. He and Trash Talk’s Garret Stevenson then proceed to push and kick the man off of the stage. Earl has since addressed the jaw-dropping moment on Twitter.
In a recent interview, Sweatshirt talked about focusing on his solo career instead of estranged hip-hop group Odd Future.
“Right now, I’m really trying to set my own two feet down as me,” he says. “The OF thing follows you – it’s viral – even though not one thing I’ve done in the past couple years has been focused on OF.” Are they like a family you love but want to escape? “Yeah,” he says, wearily. “It’s my teenage boy club that got famous that I’m trying to not be defined by.” (The Guardian)
Group leader Tyler, the Creator sparked an Odd Future debate with a Twitter post about his crew ending in May.
Earl Sweatshirt also came forward to speak out.
