The five-time World Series champion’s list ranged from Notorious B.I.G. and Jay Z to Bad Boy Records CEO Diddy.

“That’s a tough question. You know I got to put 50 [Cent] in there,” Jeter said in an interview. “I’m in his building so I can’t get in trouble. 50. Biggie. Jay. Eminem. Michigan [guy], you see I got my Michigan shirt on. How many’s that? Diddy too. I like New York. I stick with New York.” (This Is 50)

Back in 2011, Jay Z revealed he predicted Jeter’s 3,000 career hit moments prior to him making history during a ball game.

Nick Swisher said that Russell Martin called Derek Jeter’s shot. So too did Jay-Z, the rapper told reporters outside the Yankees clubhouse after Jeter on Saturday afternoon became the second player in major league history to homer for his 3,000th hit. “I actually called it,” Jay-Z said. “I called it for the wrong side though. I thought he was gonna hit the short porch (in right), but he surprised everyone. “I taped (my prediction) as well, so I’m good.” Jay-Z said Jeter is in the “top tier” of great Yankees. “I’m a Yankees fan so I’ve known him. He’s my best friend,” Jay-Z joked. (ESPN)

Young Hov also filmed the historic moment from Yankees Stadium.

Jay-Z captured baseball history on camera. The sports enthusiast filmed Yankees player Derek Jeter knocking his 3,000th hit out of the park at New York’s Yankee Stadium. The “Empire State of Mind” rapper was seated near third base and can be heard predicting the moment before it happened. (Rap-Up)

In 2009, Jay performed “Empire State of Mind” during the World Series at Yankee Stadium.

“The moment at Yankee stadium for me, as a kid growing up in Brooklyn, I’m still high off of that,” Jay explained in an interview. “But right after that, we got a police escort right to the airport and took a plane straight out…I felt like a kid, the field is beautiful, I never been that close to the field, walking around. I jumped over the center field fence like I was catching a homerun…” (“Mike & Mike In The Morning”)
