New York Knicks star J.R. Smith has addressed heating up the Internet earlier this year with a steamy photo of rapper Joe Budden's ex-girlfriend Tahiry and turning into a regular target by gossip sites.
Despite his love for Twitter, Smith acknowledged a few self-inflicted mistakes.
“Yeah, I have a lot of regrets. I’m not the smartest person on Twitter; I’m definitely not the dumbest either. I’m in the public eye so much that there’s so much that I have to take back off Twitter. I mean I delete stuff all the time. It’s Twitter, I don’t think people should take it so serious,” Smith said in an interview. “Yeah, the front office has came to me about that stuff, my coaches never came to me though. [One] instance was a couple years ago when we were playing the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. I was talking about Kobe [Bryant] on there and they just came to me like, “Knock it off.” Stuff like that. This past year of course there was… [the Tahiry backshot. That was] messed up.” (Complex)
He also spoke on getting linked to a recent Rihanna dating rumor.
“It’s funny because it’s like, you honestly never know unless you know somebody who was there. They could say, “We saw such and such together,” and that could be a bold-faced lie. The other person could be way across the country. Other times it could be like, “That’s his girl.” [Laughs.] It’s wild the way they portray things. You could be in the club next somebody, and they could be like “Oh such and such is here, and such and such is here–boom, let’s send it out!” Then it’s everywhere and everybody knows. It’s crazy, it’s just beyond me how it works like that.” (Complex)
Last March, Smith got hit with a hefty fine over showing off Tahiry’s backside.
New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith has been fined $25,000 by the NBA for posting “inappropriate pictures” on his Twitter account, the league announced Saturday night. Smith posted a picture of a semi-nude woman on his account late Thursday night. He told reporters in Milwaukee on Friday night that he regretted the tweet. “I didn’t know it was going to be as big a deal as it is now,” Smith told reporters on Friday. “I definitely regret it. Anytime I do anything that takes away from our team, I’m definitely going to regret it.” Smith said on Sunday that he has no plans to appeal the fine. (ESPN New York)

Rihanna’s love life has very much been a topic of conversation these days, and according to In Touch Weekly she was spotted with New York Knicks player J.R. Smith at New York City nightclub Veranda a little over a week ago showing some serious PDA. “They were very flirty in the club all night and holding hands,” an eyewitness told the magazine. “She was sitting on his lap and was really into him.” Another source added “He is the team’s most controversial player, so it’s no wonder that Rihanna likes him.” (RapFix)
