G.O.O.D Music's Big Sean has provided a taste of what his upcoming Hall of Fame album has to offer by previewing the highly anticipated sophomore effort in New York this week.
Sean invited a select number of writers and label contacts to a Manhattan recording studio for a first-listen.
Big Sean is tranquil. The G.O.O.D. Music rapper is centered in a room full of journalists and label personnel, many of whom impatiently wait to listen to the soundtrack of the next phase of his career, and be reassured that the rapper has survived the dreaded sophomore slump. “I’m not nervous. I’m actually excited,” he says before previewing a handful of tracks off his upcoming album, “Hall of Fame” (August 27), at NYC’s legendary’ Jungle City Studios on Tuesday (July 30). “It’s just, it feels like it took forever.” (Billboard)
The Detroit native also dedicates a track to a former love interest.
“Ashley,” dedicated to his ex-girlfriend, begins with a chilling verse from Miguel, who belts, “And I wouldn’t trade it for the world, world, world/ And I’m just so f*cking lucky you’re my girl, girl, girl/ And I wouldn’t trade it for anything, no, no, not anything/ And you, can’t nobody do it like you.” Big Sean apologizes for his wrongs and reminisces of the good times: “My bad for those long, long nights,” he echoes at the end of “Ashley.” (Billboard)
Last weekend, Sean revealed the project’s long-awaited cover art.
Detroit native and G.O.O.D. Music signee, Big Sean, is back today! He returns to the interwebs with some news regarding his upcoming album, the highly anticipated, Hall Of Fame. Big Sean decided to let loose of the albums artwork today, both editions the standard and deluxe models, for the fans. Both covers are rather interesting and extremely colorful, featuring Sean while staying fairly simple over all. The artwork was designed by DONDA the same folks who have done the Yeezus album art, or lack there of, as well as Lil’ Wayne latest album art, and many more. (Stupid Dope)
Earlier this month, Sean’s new Hollywood girlfriend Naya Rivera revealed where they had their very first date.
“We met a while ago and we went to this little Italian restaurant for our first date,” she revealed. “[How long have we been official?] I don’t know, you should ask him. [laughs] He’s really supportive of the character that I play [on ‘Glee’]. Everyday when we go out, he sees fans come up [to me] and I tell him stories about people thanking me for playing this character; this helps them come out to their friends and family. He thinks it’s so cool.” (VIBE Vixen)
