G.O.O.D. Music's Pusha T recently opened up about his admiration toward G-Unit Records CEO 50 Cent and why the New York rapper should be considered a true hip-hop pioneer.
Revealing his high respect for Fif, Pusha also said the rap star would be featured on his upcoming Fear of God mixtape set to drop March 21st.
“50 is one of my favorite rappers in this whole Hip-Hop sh*t,” Pusha explained in an interview. “I like his principles.” 50 Cent joins Pusha T on the track “Rain”, also featuring Pharrell Williams. “[50 Cent] is amazing,” Pusha continues about the G-Unit forefather turned multi-millionaire. “Nobody’s done what he’s done in such a short period of time.” (Hip Hop DX)
Last week, 50 was named in Forbes‘ Top 5 Wealthiest Rappers list.
When it comes to net worth, Jay-Z is number two. The top spot goes to Sean “Diddy” Combs, who tops our accounting of rap’s richest with a fortune of $475 million, fueled by his interests in Sean John clothing, Bad Boy Worldwide record label and, most significantly, his Diageo joint-venture vodka brand Ciroc. Last month, 50’s Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ 2003 debut reached the eight-million albums sold mark.
50 Cent’s 2003 breakthrough album Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ tops the 8 million mark in sales this week. It’s the fourth best-selling rap album in history, following Eminem‘s The Marshall Mathers LP (10,341,000) and The Eminem Show (9,928,000) and Nelly’s Country Grammar (8,489,000). (Yahoo News)
For now, 50 is focused on dropping a follow-up to 2009’s gold certified Before I Self Destruct LP.
“What [fans] are hearing are just my ideas,” Fif said in an interview. “This is my Detox album, it may take ten years and you gonna wait on it until it comes but when it do come, it’ll be perfect. I recorded 20 songs to a whole different album concept before I put that on the side and said I wanna do this, what I’m doing now. I’ma write until I feel like I have something perfect. I feel like music marks time and it’s important to put out the ‘right’ sound for that ‘right’ moment. Like my Curtis album, people said my Curtis album wasn’t good and it had ‘Ayo Technology,’ number one record on the album. It had ‘I Get Money,’ ‘I Still Kill’ featuring Akon, Robin Thicke, so many hit records on the actual album, I’m like, ‘What are you listening to?’ But I guess I look at it and say it’s timing…There’s nobody in hip-hop that possesses the ability to do what I do. I’m more exciting than these people. I genuinely believe that…” (MTV)
