According to reports, the rapper’s debut album leaked yesterday (November 17) afternoon.

Pink Friday came even earlier than expected. Nicki Minaj’s debut album leaked online on Wednesday (November 17), less than a week before its scheduled release date. The project was originally slated to arrive on Friday (November 19) before shifting to November 23 and then finally settling on November 22. Minaj’s Young Money labelmate Drake also suffered a pre-release leak of his debut, Thank Me Later, last May, however, he later said he felt confident the LP would still do well in stores.

“I always said if I had put out an album that was poor quality and music that people didn’t enjoy, then I think the leaks would hurt me,” Drake said in an interview. “Because a lot of the feedback has been great. The word of mouth, music is something that is to be enjoyed. I think it can help me so, June 15th, I’m stillconfident.” (The Life Files)

According to Young Money CEO Mack Maine, Minaj was initially worried about record sales for Pink Friday.

“She was worrying about first week. She was like, ‘Drake sold [463,000]. What you think I’ma sell? As if she gon’ sell less,” recalls Maine. “I explained to her, ‘You know a lot of the press and the media really got it brainwashed with first week sales.’ Bieber went on to sell 2 million and Bieber might have only sold 17,000 the first week. Juvenile sold like 30,000 his first week of 400 Degreez and went on to sell 6 million…I don’t know what happened to working the record and making sure that the artistreaches a certain point. I rather the end number be higher than the beginning. These days, it’s all about: Let me do 500,000, a million the first week. Don’t get caught up in what Wayne did. You don’t want your pinnacle to be your first-week sales. Then everything’s downhill from there and then what? I don’t care if you sell 10 the first week and you go on to sell 5 million–we did better than the person that sold 300 the first week.” (VIBE)

The album has been getting heavy co-signs this week by artists like Kanye West who tweeted about its sound.

“From what I’ve heard of @NickiMinaj ‘s album I know it’s gone be crazy! I’ve got a couple verses on it too!!! And she in my hometown 2nt!,” West tweeted Monday (November 15).

Pink Friday is scheduled to officially hit stores Monday, November 22nd.
