Young Money star Nicki Minaj recently talked about what motivated her to take a chance by launching an alcoholic beverage and whether or not men can get down with Myx Fusions.

With the growing number of rap moguls making waves in the alcohol industry, Minaj said her time to shine is now.

“I was just feeling like with a lot of the male artists, like in hip-hop, they’ve gone out and started alcohol drinks or they’ve endorsed drinks and stuff like that,” she told MTV News. “And I never saw a female really do it.” Many of her male contemporaries have aligned themselves with liquor brands for quite some time now. Jay Z endorses D’usse, Diddy has a stake in Ciroq and Ludacris co-owns Conjure cognac, and those are only a handful of the deals the guys have inked over the years. So, when Myx came along, Nicki knew she wanted in. (MTV)

The female hip-hop heavyweight also said men can get down with her drink.

“Yes! Dudes are OK to drink it,” she insisted. “And a lot of guys I know drink it with something a little stronger, but they always say ‘I can’t lie,’ they do like the taste of it. You know, like, how guys drink beers we wanted to make it almost similar to that, in that not every time you want to get drunk. Sometimes you just want to be nice and be in your house watch the game or whatever. So when guys are drinking their beers, women can drink their Myx, and vice versa.” (MTV)

Details of the new partnership bubbled online back in early June.

Myx Fusions, the fruit-infused, single serve moscato wine beverage, announces a partnership with Nicki Minaj today. The pop superstar is not only a part owner of the brand but will also be the face of the new distinctively bottled, ready to drink moscato as it expands in the U.S. market and abroad. Myx Fusions will launch a fully integrated marketing campaign that will include print, radio and television as well as exclusive events and social media messaging. (Wall Street Journal)

Both Minaj and the company’s CEO made sure to release statements on the business relationship.

“I am so excited to team with the Myx brand,” says Minaj. “I have no doubt that it will be number one. It’s a great-tasting, amazing product that people will love. It’s not even a hard sell. Myx Fusions gives us an opportunity to revolutionize the wine industry.” “Myx is a great new innovation in a category that is exploding,” says Peter Reaske, Myx Fusions CEO. “Moscato has done wonders for wine consumption and Myx Fusions will do the same for moscato. Myx appeals to a broad base of wine-drinking and non-wine drinking consumers. We believe that Nicki Minaj’s partnership combined with the appeal of the Myx product will have a ground-breaking impact on the wine industry.” (Statement)

The rapper hinted at a beverage venture possibly being close to done last April.

“I don’t think I can. I really would love to,” Minaj said of not being able to tour. “But I don’t think I’ll have the time, because I’m also going to be launching a few products this year that I’m really going to have to lend myself to the clothing line, I have a drink that’s about to come out and these new speakers that you guys are going to see a commercial for this week or next week. So I have a lot of things that the business side of me has to work on, and I also want to be here so I can write. I obviously am going to start working on the third album very, very soon. I’m getting beats as we speak. I just haven’t started writing, but that’s my biggest priority at this point.” (MTV)
