In light of Clementi killing himself over a streamed video his roommate secretly taped showing him with another male student, Minaj said suicide should never be an option when dealing with stress.

“I would encourage my gay fans to be fighters and to be brave,” Minaj said in an interview. “People face difficulties, no matter who you are. I faced difficulties with a lot of things. I face opposition every day, but I didn’t kill myself and now, thank God, I’m here. So I want my life to be a testimony to my fans and my gay fans…I mean I could never imagine what they’re going through. But I know that suicide is never the answer and I know that things always get better. So I’m supporting you guys. I love you very, very much and for the people who don’t love you, they need help.” (MTV)

Clementi jumped off New York City’s George Washington Bridge earlier this week.

Clementi, 18, jumped to his death from the George Washington Bridge on Sept. 22. Three days earlier, Clementi’s roommate, Dharun Ravi, and a friend, Molly Wei, watched his gay tryst live from a separate dorm room and invited others to gawk, authorities say. Ravi tried to live stream a second encounter, telling friends via Twitter to join him on a video chat service, prosecutors say. Clementi learned of the betrayal and ask for advice on a gay message board. He made his last post about the incidents just 15 hours before he took his life. (New York Daily News)

Earlier this week, rap star 50 Cent stirred up controversy among the gay community via Twitter.

50 Cent, also known as Curtis James Jackson III, has taken his homophobic opinions, usually found on stage and screen, to cyberspace again in a recent tweet. The rapper, actor and Vitamin Water spokesman wrote: “If you a man and your over 25 and you don’t eat pu**y just kill your self damn it. The world will be a better place. Lol.” 50 Cent tweeted the anti-gay remark from his Blackberry using ÜberTwitter on Wednesday 9/29/2010 to his 3.3 million followers. (Fenuxe)

However, 50 later clarified his remarks and admitted his mother had female lovers.

“The other night I made a joke about a blow job. My male followers enjoyed it. So I then went on to joke about women receiving the same.,” 50 tweeted Friday (October 1).

“Some how they turned a simple joke about oral sex into a anti gay statement. I have nothing against people who choose and alternative life”

“Style in fact iv publicly stated my mom loved women. It funny how people think negative statements are news worthy but positive statements” (50 Cent’s Twitter)
