Minaj expressed her gratitude and excitement over the accomplishment via Twitter.

“Pink Friday certified Platinum by the RIAA Pink Friday remains the #2 Rap Album and the #4 Album in the country on Billboard’s 200. Thank you for your continued support.,” she tweeted Wednesday (January 5).

“And to top it all off, “Bottoms Up” is double platinum. S/O 2 @TreySongz who woulda thought… *sings* all around the wooorld do ya hear me?” (Nicki Minaj’s Twitter)

Reports of the album bypassing the million units sold mark landed online yesterday.

After generating a few month’s worth of buzz around her debut album ‘Pink Friday’, Nicki Minaj has been successful in delivering a chart topper to her nation of Barbies. ‘Pink Friday’ went gold in mid-December with over 500,000 units sold, and at the top of the new year, the album has been certified platinum by the RIAA. Album sales for ‘Pink Friday’ have soared past Jay-Z‘s ‘Greatest Hits’ and Kanye West‘s ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,’ both of which were also released on Nov. 22. (The Boom Box)

In October, Young Money CEO Mack Maine revealed how anxious Minaj was over her album’s performance.

“She was worrying about first week. She was like, ‘Drake sold [463,000]. What you think I’ma sell? As if she gon’ sell less,” recalls Maine. “I explained to her, ‘You know a lot of the press and the media really got it brainwashed with first week sales.’ Bieber went on to sell 2 million and Bieber might have only sold 17,000 the first week. Juvenile sold like 30,000 his first week of 400 Degreez and went on to sell 6 million…I don’t know what happened to working the record and making sure that the artistreaches a certain point. I rather the end number be higher than the beginning. These days, it’s all about: Let me do 500,000, a million the first week. Don’t get caught up in what Wayne did. You don’t want your pinnacle to be your first-week sales. Then everything’s downhill from there and then what? I don’t care if you sell 10 the first week and you go on to sell 5 million–we did better than the person that sold 300 the first week.” (VIBE)

As far as actual albums purchased, Minaj’s Pink Friday is nearing 900,000.

Young Money star Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday moved back into the Top 5 by climbing up four positions to No. 4 with 60,900. With six weeks in the books, her debut album has pushed out 851,800 copies. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
