Young Money’s Nicki Minaj is ready to start putting the focus all on her, admitting she is not inspired to go searching for any more dream collaborations.
If things go her way, Nicki does not see any new joint efforts going down in the near future.
“I’ve had amazing collaborations, God bless everyone that collaborated with me and thank you for the opportunities but I’d say now, I don’t wanna, there is no dream collaboration. I feel like I’ve worked with the dream collaborators already.” She explained: “I’ve worked with just the most iconic people in the world and now, it’s like, you know, now I think it’s more about just creating good music outside of all that collaborating stuff.” (MTV UK)
Back in 2010, the colorful Barbie said her dream collaboration would be alongside Beyoncé.
“Probably just Beyoncé right now,” revealed Minaj when asked about who she wants to collaborate with. “I’ve worked with just about all my dream collabs, like I’ve worked with Jay-Z and I’ve worked with Kanye and I worked with Rihanna and I’ve worked with Eminem. Those were at the top of my list. Now that I’ve done that, probably the only one on my list that I haven’t worked with that I’m really, really excited about is Beyoncé.” (Us Magazine)
In February 2011, Minaj said she would only do guest features with Britney Spears for the next two years.
“I’m done with the collabs,” Minaj revealed in an interview. “No more collabs for the next two years. [Britney Spears?] Oh yeah. [smiles] Britney’s a snatch like me and she’s cute. Yes. We might could do something.” (Hip Hollywood)
Despite her desire to avoid collabos, Nicki and pop star Justin Bieber broke records last month with their joint “Beauty and a Beat” anthem.
Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber are making and breaking records–literally. The duo’s “Beauty and a Beat” music video has set the record for the most views in 24 hours on VEVO. “Congrats @justinbieber & @NICKIMINAJ! #BAAB24hrRecord is YOURS! Most @VEVO views in 24 hours!” tweeted VEVO. The video, which racked up 10.6 million views in 24 hours, features homemade-style footage of Justin on tour, hanging out, and relaxing with Nicki at a water park. It currently has over 20 million views. “hey @nickiminaj – thanks for being a part of this. #HISTORY,” tweeted the teen heartthrob. The previous record was held by British-Irish boy band One Direction, whose video for “Live While We’re Young” registered 8.2 million views in 24 hours. (Rap-Up)
