Young Money’s Nicki Minaj is not doing anything to lessen chatter about DJ Khaled proposing to her last week after publicly stepping out over the weekend with an attention-seeking ring on her wedding finger.
A photo of Nicki wearing what could be an engagement ring from Khaled has started to make its rounds online.
Is a picture really worth a thousand words? Nicki Minaj has yet to publicly address DJ Khaled’s memorable MTV video proposal, but the “Super Bass” singer raised eyebrows when she stepped out to dinner in Beverly Hills on Saturday, July 27, with a new accessory around her ring finger. The 30-year-old rapper wore an attention-grabbing ensemble for her evening outing, including a bright neon mesh cap, pink shirt and pastel yellow high-waisted jeans. Minaj brushed her blonde hair aside with her left hand — which boasted an impressive sparkler on her ring finger — multiple times. (Us Weekly)
Khaled has also responded to reports which claim Minaj filed a restraining order against him following the recorded proposal.
“Y’all know better than that they don’t put restraining orders on bosses I’m the DON U witnessing greatness I’m the best that ever did it! JUS KNOW! #sufferingfromsuccess,” Khaled wrote via Instagram July 28. (DJ Khaled’s Instagram)
Some media outlets believe Khaled’s proposal and Nicki’s new ring were staged.
Is the Nicki Minaj engagement to DJ Khaled now a marketing publicity stunt for the newly announced Minajesty fragrance? The Nicki Minaj engagement story got crazy fairly quickly. One Nicki Minaj, DJ Khaled rumors had the singer filing a restraining order. Some claimed DJ Khaled staged the event to promote his upcoming album. Some Nick Minaj rumors claimed the singer accepted the engagement proposal by DJ Khaled because she was spotted wearing a diamond ring. But some people claim Nick Minaj wasn’t wearing an engagement ring. The diamond ring supposedly has been owned by Nicki Minaj for years. (Inquistr)
Despite the widespread doubt, Khaled said his proposal is fully legit.
“I’m at a point in my career, you got to understand, I ain’t a young boy anymore,” Khaled said in an interview. “I just had to be honest. I’ve always liked her, she’s my friend, of course, and I like her. It’s more than just a crush. I want to be honest — she’s out there hustling and I respect that. I can take care of her and not just that, she’s beautiful. … Of course I want to marry her. I’m sure there’s other people who want to marry her. I just felt like I want to be honest with her. … I love the girl, I like her. … If she says no, it’s all good. She’s my friend. She might not be ready for marriage. I want kids, I want a lot of things, you gotta be ready for this, but, I’m gonna keep it real, I’m going to tell her how I feel. … She might say yes tonight or tomorrow, she might say yeah next year. I’m never gonna give up. I don’t ever give up on nothing I do.” (Power 106)
