Young Money’s Nicki Minaj will follow in Lil Wayne‘s footsteps by performing on an upcoming televised broadcast of “Saturday Night Live.”
The “Barbie” will hit the stage later this month.
Jesse Eisenberg is set to host Saturday Night Live, NBC announced Friday. The Social Network star, an Oscar contender in the best actor category, will appear Jan. 29 with musical guest Nicki Minaj. This marks Eisenberg’s first appearance on the live sketch show. In addition, former SNL cast member Dana Carvey will return to Rockefeller Center in New York to lead the Feb. 5 episode. Linkin Park will perform, making it the band’s second appearance. (The Hollywood Reporter)
Additionally reports suggest she will perform a record from her debut album, Pink Friday.
Known for her out-of-the-box fashion and manic rhymes, Minaj will likely perform her new single, “Moment 4 Life,” featuring Drake, as she brought the tune to her appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” earlier this week. Eisenberg’s and Minaj’s upcoming appearance marks the first time for both on the sketch show. (MTV)
Last month, Wayne performed on “Saturday Night Live” alongside Eminem.
Eminem and Lil Wayne shared musical guest duties on the last new “Saturday Night Live” of 2010. First up, the rap titans united to perform their collaboration “No Love” together for the first time. Em later rocked the stage with his Recovery joint “Won’t Back Down” before handing the mic over to Weezy who debuted his Carter IV single “6 Foot 7 Foot” for the first time on TV. (Rap-Up)
Aside from an upcoming performance, Minaj’s debut has continued to climb up the sales chart.
Leading the pack this week is Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday which sold 38,600 records behind Taylor Swift‘s Speak Now (52,000). According to Nielsen SoundScan, the Barbie’s debut album rests at 890,500 sold copies after seven weeks in stores. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
