Viral videos promptly labeled “Best Yourself” feature the television star encouraging people to strive for success amid challenges.

Honda has launched a new multi-platform campaign targeting the 18-35 market for its 2013 Civic model starring America’s Got Talent host Nick Cannon Entitled ‘Best Yourself’, the campaign comprises both digital and television. A two-minute long ad is currently showing on the brand’s YouTube channel, while a 60-second version will first air during an episode of the talent show. Both videos aim to showcase individuals working towards their personal goals and have been interspersed with footage of Cannon driving the redesigned 2013 Honda Civic. (The Drum)

Cannon has since released a statement to explain his interest in linking with Honda.

“In the entertainment business, much like the auto industry, there is always pressure to adopt the latest trends,” said Nick Cannon. “I’ve built my career by staying true to myself and my personal beliefs, and it’s the same commitment that I saw in Honda and their development of the 2013 Civic that drew me to this project.” (Statement)

A Honda executive has also spoken out on going with the 32-year-old tastemaker.

“We believe that things can always be better and this sentiment can be seen in the numerous improvements we made to the 2013 Civic. Honda made the best-selling compact car in the U.S. even better,” said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president of auto operations at American Honda Motor Co., Inc., “The emotionally compelling and multi-layered ‘Best Yourself’ campaign is built on this foundation of continuous improvement by celebrating individual’s achievements towards personal greatness. We look forward to seeing how consumers exemplify this through the #BestYourself social community.” (Statement)

The newly redesigned 2013 Honda Civic comes equipped with ample features now included as standard add-ons.

The campaign focuses on individuals working toward their goals, whether playing the violin, shooting hoops, or completing math problems. Beyond the ad’s “America’s Got Talent” debut, Honda will push the campaign on social media, inviting users to share how they plan to push themselves and achieve their goals. The 2013 Honda Civic builds on a 2012 model refresh, adding air conditioning, USB, Bluetooth, and a backup camera as standard features. The 2013 sedan model starts at $18,165, with the Si Coupe model featured in the ad campaign starting at $22,515. (New York Daily News)
