Nick Cannon Addresses Mariah’s ‘Satan’ Comments, Reveals If They Were Aimed At Nicki Minaj

Television actor Nick Cannon has come forward to clear the air on rumors and speculation suggesting his wife, Mariah Carey, took a subliminal shot at fellow ex-"American Idol" panelist Nicki Minaj last week.

Cannon said he highly doubted Carey would resort to underhanded ways to down Nicki.

Mariah Carey said in an interview this week that her time as a judge on “American Idol” was like “going to work every day in hell with Satan.” The general assumption was that Mimi was referencing Nicki Minaj as the horned one (as the two very obviously did not get along), but Mariah’s husband, Nick Cannon, says the entire situation was devilish. “I don’t think [her ‘Satan’ comment] was about the people on the panel. It’s about when someone tells you something and paints a picture one way, and then that’s not the case,” Nick – whose comedy special, “F#ck Nick Cannon,” will air on Saturday at 10 PM on Showtime – told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Friday’s Access Hollywood Live. “If she’s used to being treated a certain way and then you have a network that says, ‘No, we’re gonna do this,’ then…” (OMG Yahoo)

Nick also emphasized how the “American Idol” production mostly upset his wife.

Despite all of the zingers and thinly-veiled insults hurled back and forth between Mariah and Nicki, Nick maintained that the singer was more upset with the show situation itself than her rapper co-judge. “I don’t think she was speaking directly about [Nicki]. I think she was talking about the situation in general. In her mind, it’s bigger than that,” he said. “If my wife wanted to [call Nicki Satan], she would’ve said that. She has no problem [saying] how she feels! “She was talking about the situation in general,” he reiterated. (OMG Yahoo)

Immediately following her interview last week, speculation on who Mariah’s comments were directed at mounted.

Mariah Carey’s American Idol journey was more like a Highway to Hell, according to the singer in a recent interview on New York radio station Hot 97. “Honestly, I thought it was gonna be a three-person panel. They gave me a nice dangling monetary moment,” she said. Carey did not directly address her public feud with former judge Nicki Minaj, but she did describe an unhappy work environment. “It was like going to work every day in hell with Satan,” she said. She stopped short of naming any devil (or Minaj) in particular. “Nah, I’m just playing. It didn’t affect me that much. I was disappointed.” (The Hollywood Reporter)

Back in May, Minaj spoke on Carey’s alleged issues with her.

“Imagine someone you loved your whole life. Imagine meeting them and then, all of a sudden, feeling like you did something horrible to them but you just don’t know what you did,” Minaj said in an interview when asked about her relationship with Carey. “That’s what my relationship with Mariah is and that’s what it’s been from the beginning. I just thought that we were really friends but that’s the other thing I learned. This industry is so fake. You walk away thinking people are your friends and they’re not.” (E!)
