[SOHH highlights a hot record every week and offers a behind-the-scenes look at the smash in Singled Out. After Arkatech Beatz’s Mike D talked about Jadakiss’ “Realest In The Game” anthem, New Orleans native Dee Day dissects his “Lose Control” banger.]

“Lose Control” is really a heavy, emotional-based song and I wrote it when I was kind of stressed out and frustrated.

It’s based upon coming up, no matter what you’re doing. It’s me telling my story about how I’m coming up. I’m still on the come up, obviously, and we just wanted to portray that in the visual.

We just put a storyline together that showed an everyday struggle of people’s lives and not nothing glamorous or special. It’s just the part of the struggle of trying to get by to make ends meet and pay bills.

That’s what “Lose Control” is really all based on. It’s just showing that blessings can happen if you keep working and keep your head above water. As long as you do that, you should be straight with your struggle.

Just keep your faith.

I knew for sure this is how we wanted the visual to look. After I recorded the song, I felt like the song could be big. So I wanted a big-looking video but at the same time tell a story in it.

That’s the real side of it and the big side would be the performance in front of the whole city. We definitely wanted to portray that immediately after me and the director heard the song.
