Nelly Names The Most “Baffling” Part About Heroin, Weapon Arrest

Grammy-winning rapper Nelly is still shook up over making national headlines earlier this month after he and some associates got arrested on drug possession charges while traveling in Texas.

Although charges did not stick to Nelly, he admits the arrest still lingers in his head.

“I think it’s always alarming. I think in this case it’s really alarming when you find yourself in a situation that you didn’t put yourself in,” he told MTV News on Tuesday (October 23). “That’s the only thing that I think is baffling, and I think that’s the part that hurts the most.” (MTV)

Last week, Nelly discussed the aftermath of his publicized arrest.

“Certain stuff we can say and certain stuff you can’t say until all that is cleared,” Nelly said in an interview. “We got pulled over and things were noticed as far as K-9 abilities and things went in stages from there. It was kind of wild. … [Sierra Blanco, Texas] ain’t a good spot to come through with anything you ain’t supposed to have. Everything happened so fast. It’s one of those situations where you’re squinting your eyes like, ‘Is this really happening?’ There was no way I would jeopardize what Nelly has built for the last 14-15 years being in the situation I was accused.” (V-103)

Earlier this month, the rap veteran unleashed his fury following the arrest.

“I’m not gone front I’m MAD as Hell about this sh#t!!2have some1 who works 4u n who u call a friend 4 ova 10years jeopardize ur life WTF?,” Nelly tweeted Thursday evening.

“That being said he was not only an employee but he was fam some1 who protected my life 4many years! No excuses for wad he did!!!!”

“My heart goes out to his fam and is kids!!!!” (Nelly’s Twitter)

He also issued a formal statement to separate himself from the negative press.

“It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest this morning, October 11th. Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board. Law enforcement officials in Sierra Blanca, Texas did not press charges against anyone other than that individual.” (Miss Info TV)
