Naughty By Nature’s Treach is making headlines this weekend after reportedly finding himself in a sticky situation following a police chase through New Jersey.
According to reports, Treach landed in handcuffs Thursday (April 10) after a police chase and dispute.
Naughty By Nature rapper Anthony “Treach” Criss was arrested Thursday in Jersey — after allegedly charging cops following a 10-block police chase through 4 red lights … and cops even drew their guns. Law enforcement sources tell us, officers tried to pull Criss over for speeding in Union City — he was allegedly doing 55 in a 25 — but Criss floored it once he heard the sirens … driving 10 blocks through 4 red lights until finally coming to a stop. Once pulled over, we’re told Treach jumped out of his car and charged the police cruiser that was chasing him — so cops drew their guns and ordered him back into the car. (TMZ)
Despite the seriousness, the rap veteran managed to put up $15,000 bail and walked out the next day.
According to law enforcement sources, Treach was irate and belligerent at first, but eventually calmed down. He was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with evading police and driving on a suspended license, both misdemeanors. We’re told Treach was also cited for speeding and reckless driving. When they ran his license, they discovered Treach also had several warrants out for his arrest stemming from a child support case and other unrelated traffic violations. (TMZ)
Treach made headlines last year after releasing a diss track at Naughty By Nature member Vin Rock.
“Industry rule number one hundred is funny, tall midgets get short money,” Treach raps. “I can’t, fire the owner because it’s me and my deejay/Give a grown man time out, I’m out, buy my swag on eBay/Cash, I get it, grab it, feel the punishment from the savage/Legend, lyrical lord, they call you Uncle Adlib — You outta my army, can’t harm me, or alarm me/F*ck your fat a**, you a bagel away from Barney/You wack rapper, backstabber, so greedy/I’ll make it so they’ll never see your wack a** on TV/Time to find your own zone” (“Tall Midget”)
Treach talked to SOHH a few years ago and boasted about their longevity in the rap game.
“The fans have been asking for this. There’s not too many groups that have been in the game like we have and still have a following. But the biggest ready why you need to get the album is because your n*gga Trigga said so. For you to have fans and to hear their passion for wanting to hear your music, I’m a fan of my own material. So I’ve been waiting to hear this as well. It’s been ten years since the last album so it’s finally time. The fans are never going to have to wait this long again.” (SOHH 5 Reasons Why You Should Buy)
