Shortly after Nas deleted tweets suggesting he was leaving the United States following the release of his upcoming Life Is Good Saturday (March 31) night, a member from the rapper's camp has told SOHH the hype is real.

According to Nas’ crew member, struggling with government tax woes and child support drama are forcing him to pack his bags.

“Basically [Nas’] decision is more of a business move than anything else,” the source told SOHH. “His lawyer gave him two options: Let the government take every dollar you make  for the next 4-8 years or extradite yourself to a country where they can’t touch your earned income. Nas been talking about moving out the U.S. for years anyway so he was like, “F*ck it. Let’s drop the album and I’m out.” Africa’s his escape from the debt problems.” (SOHH)

Speculation on Nas’ unexpected decision emerged after a Saturday night tweet went up.

“LIFE IS GOOD comin soon. looks like this could be it for the last DON,” Nas tweeted March 31st before deletion hours later.

“talkin 2 damian & got me thinkin i need a change. the motherland needs her son. god’s son.

“after LIFE IS GOOD, im off on my journey.” (Nas’ Twitter)

While mum as of late on his tax woes, the rap veteran recently said all would be addressed on Life Is Good.

If you want to know Nas’ take on his multimillion-dollar tax woes, then you’ll have to buy his new album. In February, TMZ reported that Queensbridge MC owes more than $6 million in back taxes, and now the Internal Revenue Service plans to garnish wages earned from his music publishing until things are even Steven. Ever the wordsmith, Nas got creative with his “no comment” comment when he appeared on “RapFix Live” on Wednesday. “My side of the story is on the record and I speak about it on the record,” he said of how he plans to address his tax troubles on his upcoming Life Is Good LP. Recent reports claimed the government would soon step forward and take action on Esco’s debt.

The next time you buy a Nas album, you’re really just handing your money over to the government — because the rapper’s delinquent tax filings have caused Uncle Sam to begin garnishing his wages … TMZ has learned. As TMZ first reported, Nas is in tax debt up to his eyeballs … if his eyeballs were $6,000,000 tall. So the government has finally tired of waiting for Nas to pay up, so they filed documents in the state of Georgia to have his wages garnished — via the music publishing organizations BMI and ASCAP — until the debt is paid off. So if you like Nas, but hate the government … perhaps you’ll want to find an alternative way to listen to his music. (TMZ)
