Acknowledging past and present female spitters, Nas said Minaj stands in a class by herself.

“I mean it was crazy cause Nicki is out there doing it,” Nas said in an interview. “She’s like the only female doing it. You got some new ones out her doing it–Azealia Banks, Iggy Azalea–you got them. But since we don’t hear much from Eve, [Lil] Kim and Foxy [Brown] these days, nobody can’t front, Nicki is representing. To be on her album, that sh*t was crazy. … She put me on [‘Champions’] with Drake and [Young] Jeezy — that’s a recipe of a masterpiece. I thought it was a perfect record and I think Nicki killed that sh*t.” (XXL Mag)

Back in March, the Queens, New York emcee spoke on linking up with Minaj.

“Nicki hit us up, I got love, so it was nothin’ — I did the record,” Nas told MTV News on Saturday night before his show at South by Southwest. While fans wait to see how Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded holds up sonically, Nas gives his own assurance for “Champion.” For the Queensbridge, New York, MC, it all boils down to a simple feeling: “It’s hip-hop music; music is music. If I feel it, I can get on it. I heard the track, I felt it, I loved it.” (MTV)

Cash Money Records boss Birdman, recently dished out on his feelings towards Minaj’s greatness as a global artist.

“I say she is, but if she’s not today, within time she will be. No female ever will be able to sell more records than her, have more singles than her, have more number one singles than her, have more awards–no more nothing. She had the most singles by a female last year. Her accomplishments are gonna speak for themselves. I can say that now because that’s just her first album but she’s only growing and getting bigger and bigger. She’s a global artist. She’s a student to the game. She’s hard-body with her workload.” (Complex)

She recently slammed accusations suggesting she began making pop music overnight.

She finishes off the sentence for me. “…You hear me singing. And that’s the thing. I really want you to write that. Because it’s the most bullsh*t thing I’ve ever heard – you liked me only when I was doing rap. I never only did rap. My first single was called ‘Your Love,’ and it was a pop song. I did a song called ‘Knockout’ with Lil Wayne about three years ago. Nobody said anything about that. Why? Because it didn’t become huge like ‘Starships.’ That’s what irritates me. People always want to talk about who I was, but I’ve always been singing, always been experimenting with pop music. So the fact that it got huge one day, should I apologize for that? Should I apologize that ‘Starships’ and ‘Super Bass’ did well, and children like them, and Middle America can sing along? There’s nothing wrong with that. I’m just broadening my fan base. I think everyone should enjoy music.” If she wants to duet on a power ballad with Rihanna, that’s her choice, she says. (The Guardian)
