Rap veteran Nas recently discussed wanting to work with a slew of notable artists including Frank Ocean and what fans can expect from his upcoming Life is Good follow-up album.

While hopeful he can hook back up with Frank, Nas said he is forming his next solo effort as very modern day.

“I would love to reconnect with Frank Ocean,” Nas told MTV News last week when he was in New York celebrating his brand-new partnership with Hennessy’s Wild Rabbit campaign. Much of Life Is Good served as a sonic refresher to NYC’s 1990s boom-bap sound, with songs like “The Don” and “Loco-Motive,” but when describing the sound for his upcoming LP, Nas insisted it will be more current. “It’s very now, it’s very 2013, Nasir Jones. That’s what it is,” he said with a chuckle. “I feel great, I feel accomplished, I feel wiser and just really ready.” (MTV)

He also came clean on feeling a bit of anxiety toward his next musical project.

The decorated rap veteran even admitted that he is a bit anxious on this next project, but in a good way. “I’m an open canvas, a clear canvas and an excited painter with a shaky hand,” he described as poetically as you’d expect from an MC with Nas’ depth. “Not because of bad nerves, but because of excitement.” (MTV)

Last summer, fellow rap star Fabolous championed Nasty Nas’ latest LP.

“I think it’s actually a breath of fresh air for hip-hop,” Fab said. “It’s a different direction than a lot of the hip-hop that’s been coming out more recent. It’s so fresh. It’s so good to hear fresh music once in a while. You know, nothing wrong with the sound that’s in hip-hop right now, except for that it’s over-saturated you know, but I think Nas gives a different approach. I think that’s dope. “It’s just about making great hip-hop overall and I think Nas’ album adds to that,” ‘Loso added. (XXL Mag)

While Nas has his eyes set on Ocean, his longtime friend/rapper AZ recently hit up SOHH and said he hoped to link up with God’s Son for new music.

“As far as Nas, I know he was working on his album and he was moving around so much and I was moving around so much [last summer], I still tour and all that, it was more or less I had to wait for the right time to put something out. So in the meantime, between time, I just decided to put something out and get it out there. Hopefully that collaboration between me and Nas will pop off but my album is halfway done and I’m going to continue to hopefully put out music every month.” (SOHH Singled Out)
