Grammy-nominated rapper Nas has reportedly begun blogging by speaking on his upcoming collaboration album with Damian Marley and the sex of his first child with singer Kelis.
The Queens, New York-bred emcee also spoke on the impact of having Barack Obama in office.
“We have a black President, and what he has accomplished gives me hope for the future of our f****d up country,” Nas wrote. “I got too much to think about, and I didn’t wanna leave all my fans out the loop. But I wanted to let ya’ll know from me personally that I’m having my first SON!!!!! I been celebrating life ya’ll. Also I want you all to know that the Nas and Damian Marley album is coming in the next few months. It’s something we have been secretly working on. Tour this summer too!” (Global Grind)
While he has yet to say if the tour will also feature Marley, Nas has shed some light on the upcoming collaborative project.
“We’re tryin’ to show love and stuff with this album,” he said in an interview. “So, the record’s … all about really the ‘hood and Africa also as well. That’s coming out real soon…Too early to tell the title or anything like that,” he said. “Shout out to my man Jr. Gong, we getting it in right now.” (MTV News)
Nas has been hinting at the announcement of his new album since earlier this month.
“[I’m] trying to get myself together creatively [and] just [keeping] my head all straight to figure out what the next move is,” Nas said in an interview. “Couple of special things up my sleeve that should be unveiled in the next few weeks.” That’s about all he’ll say about them, although he promises that one of the projects “is history.” (Billboard)
The project will follow-up last summer’s Untitled album.
A politically charged self-titled album, at one point considered to be titled N*gger, materialized in 2008, and not without some controversy of its own. (All Music)
