New York rap veteran Nas‘ Life Is Good is reportedly going to go head-to-head for the top spot next week with sales projections up to 50,000 sold copies.
Based on weekend estimates, Nas’ latest solo offering has a chance to hold onto the number one spot.
It’s too close to call today for #1 next week between Nas and Zac Brown Band. Whichever title finishes on top, it will be the lowest total so far this year for a #1 album. Here’s how it looks headed into the weekend: Nas (Def Jam/IDJ) 45-50k Zac Brown Band (Atlantic) 45-50k Kidz Bop Kids (Razor & Tie) 35-40k (HITS Daily Double)
The album has received strong co-signs this week from hip-hop artists and sports athletes alike.
“Congrats to the Homie @Nas for #1 album. #LifeIsGood Sick! Sick! Sick!” (Baron Davis’ Twitter)
This week, fellow New York rapper Fabolous gave Nasty Nas’ newest solo effort some props.
“I think it’s actually a breath of fresh air for hip-hop,” Fab said. “It’s a different direction than a lot of the hip-hop that’s been coming out more recent. It’s so fresh. It’s so good to hear fresh music once in a while. You know, nothing wrong with the sound that’s in hip-hop right now, except for that it’s over-saturated you know, but I think Nas gives a different approach. I think that’s dope. “It’s just about making great hip-hop overall and I think Nas’ album adds to that,” ‘Loso added. (XXL Mag)
The follow-up to 2008’s Untitled LP demolished its competition atop the sales chart.
Leading the pack this week is Nas’ Life Is Good album which landed at No. 1. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the LP has shelled out 149,200 units after seven days in stores. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
