Former CNN group member N.O.R.E. has come forward to address the reasoning behind his separation from Capone, admitting a past issue in their hometown inspired the move.
Appearing on New York’s Power 105.1 radio station this week, N.O. cleared the air.
“That’s my brother right and we recently – somebody called me to do a show,” N.O.R.E. explained. “The show happened to be in Queensbridge…My drama in Queensbridge has always been over Capone. I don’t have beef in Queensbridge. I mean I’ve handled the beef in Queensbridge, but originally it never started over me — so as a brother I just felt like he should have stood next to me. I came, I brung all the jewelry I could put together on and I walked through that projects by myself and held it down — It just really, really hurt me as a friend [not to have him by my side].” (“The Breakfast Club”)
In June, Capone confirmed the separation but said N.O.R.E. would always be his brother.
“Capone n Nore could never break up.. Brothers b4 music.. It’s my turn ya dig!,” Capone tweeted June 9th.
“RT Listen here: @CaponeQB n @noreaga WILL ALWAYS BE TOGETHER .. JUST NOT AS A RAP DUO ON WAX! WE ARE ALL FAMILY TIL THE END! #MILITAINMENT” (Capone’s Twitter)
A few months ago, N.O.R.E. announced the news of CNN’s break-up after over a decade of releasing music together.
“I’m not making another war report album or another N.O.R.E ALBUM IMMA MAKE THE 1st S.U.P.E.R.T.H.U.G album cause that what’s good for now…Diddy my homey can’t and would never diss him but he was known for anthems and hits it’s safe to say Khaled has been upholding that area…CNN was a great group…Time has changed I must move on…Doesn’t it hurt to watch a boxer still box when he’s heart isn’t in it that’s what the group feels like right now…Ok I’ve said way too much have no more to say I’ll hit u after the gym salute” [sic] (57th Ave)
He also hopped on Twitter to remind fans Capone remains a close friend.
“We still homeys brothers family just we both need to do something different musically!!!,” N.O.R.E. tweeted June 9th. (N.O.R.E.’s Twitter)
