New York rapper Mysonne has no plans of apologizing to singer Frank Ocean after accusing him of using his bisexuality announcement to push album sales last week and has stepped forward to clarify his stance.
Mysonne said Ocean’s decision to announce his bisexuality days leading up to Channel Orange sparked his public Twitter outburst.
“Well basically what I said was I felt that he made a cowardish move. When you come into this industry, we’re all faced with dilemmas and we’re all faced with choices and I think when you take a choice to deceive a fan base based on whatever it is, whatever it is that you represent — don’t wait until you get a fan base following you because they think you represent something else and then say, ‘Oh, by the way, I just happen to be bisexual or gay. Especially as an R&B artist. I felt that the timing, also, made it real suspect to me. … It had nothing to do with your sexuality. If a homosexual had made the same statement and had came out and he had fooled every gay person to following him and said, ‘You know what? I’m straight now.’ I just think it’s deceit and I just think it’s cowardish and I think for us not to acknowledge what it is — gives off the wrong sense of what we stand for.” (VLAD TV)
The New York rap veteran dished out his controversial remarks last week.
“i think these n*ggas is cowards that looking for exposure and buzzes, so they wait til albums drop to tell you there true Sexuality,’ he tweeted July 10th.
“Never mind that youve built a career off of obvious deceit and false hood, but people say its ok cuz he can sing. What happen to integrity?” (Mysonne’s Twitter)
Music veteran Jermaine Dupri recently said he hopes Ocean’s new LP sells big units to send a shock wave to label executives.
“When I saw the # that Frank Ocean is suppose to hit next week, I got extremely Happy,I said I need to get in my car and and listen to this album,by the time I got to “Sweet Life” I was even more happy,finally!! a RnB album that’s hip,with out having the same 5 rappers on every song,I actually hope he hits 200k,for the sake of RnB,it’s in the worst position it’s ever been since I started making music, The Record company’s don’t believe in it,Radio won’t play it if it don’t have a rapper,and a majority of the artist that are labeled RnB,are confused and lost,so I repeat,I hope Ocean sells more than the 125k that he’s on pace for,maybe these executives u’llwake the f*ck up,or at least try to copy what he’s doing,like they always do, by the way,the end of “Pyramids”jammin like a m*fucka. The iTunes-exclusive album is currently slated to push up to 135,000 copies digitally.
