Ruff Ryders leader DMX is going to need the best attorney money can buy. The hip-hop veteran found himself in police handcuffs this week on a tax evasion charge.
According to reports, the bust went down Thursday (July 13) in New York with X getting accused of intentionally holding back nearly $2 million from the IRS.
According to the indictment, DMX (born Earl Simons) is alleged to have concealed millions of dollars of income from the IRS and avoided paying some $1.7 million in taxes. DMX surrendered to law enforcement agents and will be presented Friday in Manhattan federal court before United States Judge Andrew J. Peck. (Billboard)
A full statement has surfaced detailing the intention behind X’s headline-generating bust.
Back in January, X surprised fans by releasing his hard-hitting “Bane Is Back” single.
As expected, DMX links up with his long time friend and collaborator Swizz Beatz for his latest single. Both the sirens in the production and the energy in DMX’s voice make it clear that he’s determined to grab everyone’s attention once again. Could this mean that we might finally receive a new album from DMX this year? It’s too early to tell, but one can hope. (Pigeons & Planes)

Days leading up to the song’s release, X and producer Swizz Beatz had hinted at new music coming.
