According to Romney, he initiated the first contact with Blu.

The 2008 Republican presidential contender joked about the confrontation Tuesday on the “Late Show with David Letterman.” Romney says rapper Sky Blu ignored the instruction “we’ve all heard 10,000 times” to put his seat back upright, so the former Massachusetts governor “tapped him on the shoulder and reminded him of that direction.” The highly gelled Romney says: “He gave a good swat — and broke my hair.” Romney also says he’ll “keep the door open” to another run in 2012. And he calls potential rival Sarah Palin “terrific.” (Associated Press)

However, according to Blu, Romney had a firm grip on his shoulder during the incident last month.

“I look at the man, like, ‘Are you serious?’ And then, boom, Vulcan grip comes out on my shoulder,” Sky Blu revealed in an interview. “He Vulcan-gripped me real quick. The man was sitting here and said, ‘Sir, put your seat up,’ and, pow, and what I did was a Vulcan-grip countermove. I learned this when I was a youngster. Bam, forehead. I went upside his head one time. That was the reaction when you touch me, especially during a heated exchange, I’m gonna have to rearrange your forehead piece.” (MTV)

The incident reportedly took place on President’s Day (February 15).

According to a video confessional from LMFAO’s Sky Blu, it all started when he leaned his seat back while the plane was still on the tarmac … and Romney, who was sitting behind him, started yelling at him to put his seat back up. Sky Blu claims Romney then reached forward and grabbed his shoulder … so he slapped the Presidential wannabeen’s hand away. Shortly after, authorities boarded the plane and escorted Sky Blu off the flight … and the other member of LMFAO got it all on tape. (TMZ)

Despite the rapper’s claims, Romney’s camp had a different perspective on the incident.

Former Massachusetts Governor Romney’s spokesperson Eric Fehrnstrom claimed that Blu became “physically violent” when asked to put his seat up but never mentioned whether or not Romney put his hands on him. Fehrnstrom said: “Governor Romney did not retaliate.” After hearing of the incident, the pilot returned the plane to the gate and had the passenger and his bags removed. Romney was not injured.
