Miami Heat Ball Hard, Dip Out On $100,000 Champagne Bill

The Miami Heat made sure to toast up every last drop of champagne following its Game 7 NBA Finals win Thursday (June 20) evening but ultimately ditched a $100,000 bill following their celebration at a South Beach nightclub.

While the bill belonged to players like LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, the Miami nightclub owner said he would not actually hold them to the pricey celebration.

Winning at home has its advantages. For the second consecutive year, a Miami bar owner comped the alcohol on the Miami Heat as they celebrated winning the NBA title. David Grutman, who owns Story Nightclub, where most of the players partied after the Game 7 win Thursday night, and LIV, where they celebrated last year, said the players ordered 100 bottles of Dom Perignon and three 3-liter bottles of champagne. Grutman said the club sells the standard 750-milliliter bottles of Dom Perignon for $850 each and the club sells 3-liter bottles, called Jeroboams, for $5,000. “I’m not going to charge the Heat,” Grutman said of the $100,000 value of comped alcohol. Coincidentally, Grutman did make Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban cough up nearly $100,000 a couple years ago when his team beat the Heat in Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

He didn’t treat the Dallas Mavericks the same way. Mavs owner Mark Cuban had to pay for the bill when his team beat the Heat in the 2011 Finals. LIV charged Cuban $90,000 for a 15-liter bottle of Arnaud de Brignac champagne, also known as Ace of Spades. Cuban didn’t seem to mind; he still left a 22 percent tip. “We were in the back because his credit card was denied,” Grutman recalled. “So he called up the people at the Centurion Card and said, ‘This is Mark Cuban. We just won the championship. Can I please spend some money?'” Grutman said the purchase by the billionaire then was authorized. (ESPN)

Young Money’s Drake linked up with the Heat during their victory celebration.

After the Miami Heat won their second-straight NBA title last night, they retreated to Club Story for the traditional celebration party. At last year’s party, LeBron James wore a shirt with a picture of himself as a vampire on it, and sang on stage alongside Redfoo from LMFAO. This year, perhaps because he was so spent from a grueling seven-game NBA Finals series, he was a bit more passive. He appeared on stage at Story with Dwyane Wade and R&B artist Drake. At one point, they ordered pizza to the stage, and LeBron ate pizza and danced a little bit while Drake took the mic next to him. (Business Insider)

The impressive NBA Finals win even motivataed DJ Khaled to put together a tribute video.

Miami’s own, DJ Khaled, may not have been in attendance at the big game in Miami the other night, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t love the hometown squad. Khaled returns to the scene today with a video tribute to the greatest team in the world by dropping a dope, ‘No New Friends’ included, clip that pays homage. The clip finds the Heat celebrating their latest accomplishment before we then see Khaled in the studio, plugging his upcoming album. (Stupid Dope)
