Citing his kids as the ultimate motivation, Mef said he is trying to keep his “weed” image not as publicized these days.

“When you get older and you got kids and your kids are going to school and you know teachers and all of that nature, they see how active and how concerned you are with your kids’ education and well-being, it’s hard for you to sit there and be taken seriously if people are always talking about, ‘He’s always high.’ Or, ‘He’s always on weed,’ and stuff like that which is totally not the case. I feel like when I first came out, I was young, we as doing our thing, we smoked a lot and things of that nature, and didn’t care if the world knew. Now, I have to use more discretion because of my kids. This is not for me, everything I do is for them now. So I use a bit more discretion and I don’t put weed as a forefront anymore.” (“The Come Up Show”)

Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne recently talked about quitting weed smoking.

“Yeah it’s a big difference. I almost jumped in the crowd, “said a relaxed Wayne to our own Sway. “I’m like I’m sober, I’m sweating. I’m tasting my sweat. My sweat taste different. My sweat used to taste like weed. But now it’s just, I’m like I don’t know what it is.” Weezy went on to add, “I’m out there, my eyes big, my eyes all wide. I had threw my glasses, I don’t even need these. I could see everything right now. But yeah man, it’s a great feeling.” (RapFix)

At a recent concert, Kid Cudi explained his reasons for fighting his marijuana addiction.

“You know how some people can take a smoke and they’re good, they do it for recreational purposes, sh*t like that? People that go to bars or drink at their house with their friends casually. I was the motherf*cker who was doing that sh*t all the time, recreationally, every day, wake up, needed it, all those things. While I was in that state of mind I just was missing a lot of sh*t that was going on in my circle. I just felt like I needed to just take a step back, clear my dome and focus on some real important sh*t. Like my daughter for one. My family, my business, things that are important. But you know, don’t be sad, I had a good run right? We got high together a lot right?” (Necole Bitchie)

Earlier this week, Louisiana rapper Curren$y told SOHH his three favorite celebrities he would get high with.

“I would want to f*cking smoke with Cheech Marin,” Curren$y told SOHH. “I would want to smoke with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. I don’t know if he really smokes but it would be tight. I bet he has the best stories about the NBA. The last person I’d pick is [stand-up comedienne] Sandra Bernhard. She’s like Andrew Dice Clay. I don’t know where she is right now but I remember once she was doing an HBO special and took her shirt off and that was pretty tight.” (SOHH)
