According to Mef, an inability to secure Wu leader RZA has hurt the LP’s progression.

“Can’t get RZA on board for some reason. I’m trying ya’ll. I’ve been speaking to him for the past three, four years. I’ma give it to you raw, I been saying, ‘F*ck with me. F*ck with me RZA.’ Telling other people, ‘Tell RZA to f*ck with me.’ F*ck with me RZA. But he’s a busy man. And I’m proud of him. Oh my God, he took it way further than I could have ever dream of. He’s like a f*cking inspiration, real talk. Real sh*t. He should just get back in the studio with me one more time, that’s all. Just one more time.” (HHDX)

Meth previously dished on the new LP’s concept right here…

Back in 2012, Meth said touring alongside RZA helped strengthen their bond and landed him a spot on the LP.

“Me and RZA are gonna work together on my next LP, Crystal Meth,” Mef said in an interview. “I’m looking forward to getting back in the studio with the kid. We just came off the Wu tour and the camaraderie was still there so I know the chemistry is gonna be there when we go in the studio — honeslty, I’ve got so much time on my hands right now, who knows [when it will drop.] But I’m definitely working if there’s listeners out there. I know there’s listeners out there. Far as mainstream goes, I’m not concerned too tough with that. I’ve been there, done that. So, year, if there’s still fans out there listening, I’m definitely coming with some sh*t for you.” (AHH)

A year prior, Meth said he would not rush out the LP’s release date.

“Still working. I’m taking my time,” Mef said when asked about the project’s status. “F*ck that, I don’t care what nobody say or think. I’m taking my time with this one, and it’s gonna be like a fine wine, baby…Falling back to the first album and the second album, the darker element of Meth, but with a twist on it. I can’t tell you exactly what it is because I don’t want people biting me before I do it…It definitely has a twist to it. I have a new technique of writing that no one has really touched on but it’s right there for them to pick up.” (Hip Hop Chronicle)

In 2010, the Staten Island-bred emcee described his motivation for working on a new album.

“I just want my classic,” he said in an interview. “People always say, ‘You already got a classic first LP,’ but not to me. I want my classic LP, the five-mic-er for myself. Not based on The Source‘s five mics but a five-mic-er to myself. I don’t feel like I have to prove myself to anybody. But I feel like I have to prove myself to myself…This is the most comfortable I’ve been in my whole career, because I don’t have all those obligations that I’ve had before…You know, doing the Wu-Tang, then the Wu-Tang solo projects, then my project, then me and Redman. Right now, I can do it at my own leisure. Honestly, I don’t want to make an album by myself, but it’s something that’s required, and the fans want that, so I’m gonna do that.” (MTV)

    • Meth helped build te Wu brand along with the others. Rza need to make this shit happen.

      • No doubt. Rza fucking owes Meth this. He needs to remember where he came from and who was the most popular Wu member and helped blow that shit up the most for them. That would be Meth. Give that man some damn studio time Rza. You ain’t that muthafucking busy.

        • Rza seems like a tyrant to me. He wants things his way. He wanted everyone on board with the Wu album. Cool. What about Meth now? I don’t know man. If Rza don’t want to rock with you Meth get other dudes. Just Blaze, Preme, Alchemist, Ayatollah, Havoc etc.

          • Not everyone can play boss. Some dudes know they position and play they position. Meth knows what his fans want too. Can’t be mad at that.

          • this is true, ever ask your self why did so and so’s record label never pop off…..flip mode(busta) doggystyle(snoop dog) g unit records(has anyone ever had success there post dre n em? mobb deep, mop, shawty lo and more) gfunk records(warren g)hoo bangin(mack 10)ice age(mike jones)chamilitary(chamillionaire)

its cuz these folks know how to check a schedule, be on time and do wrk, but they cant set meetings, make a schedule, make a budget ect.

not all soldiers can become generals, not all generals can become 4 star generals

          • I can’t agree on G-Unit. It was a time when Banks was selling, Buck was selling, Yayo was selling. He helped Game. One thing I can is he was never afraid to sign anyone better then him or just as good. Sure some signings didn’t work out but that’s business and 50 is a boss. Busta tho is a different story. lol. I think he held back Flipmode. I think alot of reason these labels fail is because they don’t sign dudes just as talented as them. Nas is another one.

          • when banks and buck sold(yayo’s slbum was the start of the flopping) that was during the dre and em years, i said POST dre and em. he ruined mad dudes careers then talked shit about them.

“some singings didnt work”? NONE OF THEM WORKED!!!!! didnt he executive produce one of ll cool j’s albums that flopped too? im sure he did.

it aint about finding someone as talented as you are, sometimes its about letting other artist be artist and do their own thing, and cater to their fan base.

perfect example is wiz khalifa, for as short as he’s been in the game he did some major work with juicy j…..made hm a commercial success.

50 cent has never has major success with anyone who wasnt riding the dre and em wave. these are facts.

folks just like to think 50’s a boss because of a vitamin water deal he had ZERO to do with. he didnt negotiate his endorsement deal wth them, his agent and lawyer did……he was no where near involved with them selling it. it was the equivalent of winning the lottery.

lol sms headphone..lol, you ever see anyone rockin them joints..lol

          • Like I said we’ll disagree my brother. It’s not when they had success. No one’s run last forever. It’s not like Dre was producing they albums really. Or Em. They did 50’s but they didn’t really produce any of the other members when they were actually selling. 1 song on a album don’t count. I don’t think ppl brought a Banks or Buck album because of Dre or Em. 50 was executive producing it more then likely coming up with they hooks etc. We know what he did for Game. They had his own hit records in spite of Dre/Em. How big a hit was Yayo’s So Seductive. He did at least 800-900 thou. Like I said tho we’ll agree to disagree. I’m not even a big Unit fan but I give credit where it’s due.

  1. Once upon a time Wu dudes didn’t want RZA beats on their albums……now that they lost that commercial appeal and need that underground niche money he’s repaying the favor.
