Motivated to reach new heights, Meek said legends from Nas to Jay-Z have all supplied ample influence.

“I think it’s an all-around record, man. It’s called ‘Maybach Curtains.’ It’s always good to get motivation from the legends, legends telling you they love the music,” Meek said in an interview. “You can run into Hov, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Baby, Puff Daddy. These like the biggest guys in the game and they telling you they love the music that means you are doing the right thing. It’s nothing but [motivation to me] and makes me take it to the next level.” (Rap Radar)

Nas has kept busy collaborating with rap newcomers, most recently Young Money’s Tyga.

“I like to see artists flossin’. I like to see them make big records and go throw money in the clubs, and buy new chains. I just like people livin’ their life and being happy,” Nas said in an interview with radio personality Angie Martinez. “My daughter’s like, ‘Yo, Tyga’s that dude.’ And I know ‘Rack City’ is my joint. So I know when Tyga call, I’m on that album. That was her call. I like him, but that was her call.” (Hot 97)

A few weeks ago, Meek officially partnered with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation management team.

“That’s the new deal I put together,” Meek said in an interview. “Me coming up in this rap game, I was always an underground artist coming up by myself and making all of the moves by myself. And my manager – he’s just like me, we’ve been coming up in the streets by ourselves. So we just decided to partner up with Roc Nation and take things to another level.” (Life + Times)

Outside of music, the Philadelphia-bred emcee celebrated his 25th birthday in early May.

Rick Ross, Wale, French Montana, Juelz Santana, DJ Drama, Philadelphia 76ers basketball player Lou Williams and a host of family and friends were all on hand to wish Philly’s rap wonderkid well on his milestone. “I had to come home to support the big homey — I mean, the young boy, my young boy,” Philly native DJ Drama said. “I’m proud of him — celebrating his birthday, big mixtape in the streets, announces his album date. He’s really putting on for Philly.” (MTV)
